When you said “clearly this is too big” I just bursted out laughing because CLEARLY it has not been that clear for me 😭😭😂😂😂. In my mind I associated it being bigger as a great thing because when babies latch we are told they shouldn’t have just the nipples, but areola too 🤷🏽♀️

Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been using the wrong size and after having a breast reduction, I have a surprise baby on the way and just learned that flange size is important. I had no idea and I have small nipples. I’m hoping to find attachments for the Spectra S2 pump that fits. Thank you so much again! ❤❤❤

The pro tip of getting a measure from the craft store was SOOOOOOO helpful , thank you! I was stuck in this loop of do I (someone without prime shipping) have to order a measuring card online to then wait for that to arrive? To then go back and order the flange online to make sure that I am not ordering the wrong size? But no! I will swing by Michaels today so I can order my flange faster!

What happened?! I didn't realise it could affect that
@Luvisbeautiful25 ай бұрын
@annika9348 Since I didn't know I had elastic nipples, using the wrong flang caused my nipples to over stretch and now, regardless of the different types of flangs or inserts I use, the milk won't come out as it should. It may take 20 minutes to get 1 ounce, which isn't normal for my supply as I can hand express more than in 20 minutes. This was something I learned after breastfeeding my first born (almost a year), and now my second born is only able to get fed by breast alone. I could never give him a bottle because I couldn't produce enough. The milk was there, but the pump doesn't give me the same output that my son can receive by breat feeding. Also, I thank God he can still breastfeed because usually when your nipple over stretches and has elastic nipples, the baby may not be able to latch properly. It's a miracle we made it this far (he's 15 months).

@Luvisbeautiful2 omg I had no idea it could have permanent damage. I hope I've caught mine soon enough because I'm noticing my supply drop and I realised its from elastic nipples. Just trying to do tons of research now lol, the flange size thing is really confusing... if I size down it pinches and hurts, but my current size I stretch to the end of the tube. Thanks for your reply & glad your little one is doing well

@annika9348 There are some companies that I bought some of the silicon to help with pumping and these products are great it's just not able to help me. So here are a few just in case they work for you: Pumpin Pal, LacTeck, and BeauGen. These products won't hurt the nipple and are specifically for elastic nipples. Just make sure for the Lacteck and Pumpin Pal that you get any attachments needed for your specific pump. Wish you the best ❤ and glad I can help.

I was sized in the hospital and my nipples are definitely not as big anymore and I’m not pumping nearly as much anymore. Is that normal for them to change? I used to pump a ton more but now I’m not and after I pump I still am able to get spray by manually expressing.

Yes nipple sizes can change and therefore your flange sizes change too, and sometimes each nipple is a diff size

I have 15mm nipples. What flange would be best for me?

I just bought a Momcozy nipple measuring tool. Nipple diameter 15-17mm was recommended flange size/insert 19mm

@@GinkoMstress Thank you!!! Should I wait until after baby is born in case they change size after birth or is it okay to order now?
@GinkoMstress10 ай бұрын
@@krystlenicole9268 Well as for me I’m buying mine now, so that I don’t have to rush and wait for shipment which may hurt my supply. Since, in the early first weeks they cluster feed and that’s when production is crazy and easily affected. I won’t pump but cover to see if it’s comfortable at the moment. Please note that when you pump your nipple may swell from the pump motion. So I can see why some would go up a size. I’m a 17mm (17mm-20mm) and I already know my nipple swell from previous experience, so pumping I can be 18mm, which is for a size 21mm flange. Oppose to the normal 24mm they always send with the pump. Some pumps come with 3different sizes as well so it’s great to know what you are prior. And then once comfortable when the baby is here buy more. *sorry for the long text, trying to explain something I wish I’d known prior.

@@GinkoMstress Oh please don't apologize!! This is all very useful information!! I tried to BF my other 2 but I never seemed to produce enough to keep up with my very hungry babies. I'm hoping to try harder this time so any and all advice will be appreciated because I'm basically a newbie (almost 20w pregnant and my 2 earthside babies are 16 & 13)! I tried in 2021 to add more to our clan, but had 2 back-to-back losses (one at 18w). I'll be starting over with all the BF things so, share away and write all of the books!!! ❤

Please ignore the other commenter. Nipples have nothing to do with infertility. Women who are completely without nipples (after cancer treatment f ex.) can still be fertile.

@@nian60 Denying the truth won't make it real. Lol. That person won't automatically grow a nipple. But whatever, you can live in Denial River for a few more days before it completely dries up....unless it's already dried up by now. Lol. Idk, I haven't checked the news reports because I totally do not care about things that are ALREADY written in the Bible.
