I'm a 67 year old man that when I was 5 got one of those balsa gliders you talked about. Went on to build a number of balsa and tissue mode airplanes including a glider made by Thermic? It was called the trooper, had a ball flying it. I also learned how to build very complex models of my own design using nothing but paper. So now that I'm retired one of the challenges on my bucket list is to build a RC Spitfire using paper as the airframe and covering. One of the problems I was trying to solve was what size motor, so this is useful info thanks. In another non flying model had problems with motor overheating so I installed a water jacket around the motor. It worked very well, maybe copying what the 109, Spitfire, Mustang etc did could solve the overheating problem just like the full-sized aircraft did. Yes it would add weight but then it would allow the motor to pull that weight longer and harder.

I am building a Cloud Clipper 71 and am planning to use a DYS D3548-1100kv motor with a 13x4 prop on 3s for the very reason it will look better on the fat cowl. “Go around power” isn’t in question here! Haha! I just don’t want to smoke my motor if and when I firewall the throttle but this much power should make the old timer climb vertically so it would be rare to need it. Great video!

Just getting back into the hobby after several years, I currently have 2 older 27 mhz Hobby Zone Super Cubs.. Built over several months buying parts when I could afford. Most of which are used parts,, LOL But it's all good.I would love to have something a bit newer, unfortunately funds don't allow for most luxuries. I'm retired 69 years old and trying to soak in as much as I can trying to understand all of this. Finally learning a few things. Rock On!

Thanks! I gave away a bunch of radios and stuff I don't use a few years back. You should try look at the RS airplane forums and see if you run into anyone getting rid of old equipment. Rock ON!

What kind of electric motor would you recommend for a 59inch wingspan wood frame plane weighs about 6 lbs/ pounds

Do you think spinners are necessary for electric rc planes? I have a Turbo Timber Evo. and it looks like the ESC would get better air flow if the spinner was not installed.

I’m trying to make a flexible solar panel into a flying wing, I’m wondering if you can help me decide what motor/prop to use. I know you might need more info but it’s 4m wide and 0.5m front to back, I have laser cut some ribs to make it into an aero foil shape. It produces about 100W of power but I’m not expecting that to be enough to fully power things.

Hello I'm a 63 yo that just got into flying rc planes last year to help me get over a stroke I had in 2018. I lost my short term memory and the feeling in my fingers and my distance eye sight I just bought my first big rc plane a AT-6 TEXAN . It has 6'9" wingspan and a 56" Fuselage and it weight is 13 pounds right now. It's a CMP plane fiberglass Fuselage and wing I'm trying to make sure I get the right size motor for it. The guy I bought it from was running a 6362 540Kv motor with 18×10 prop and the plane calls for a 5055 motor if I'm reading the data information right I will a picture of the information I have on the plan. I was thinking of going with the 5065 motor and using a 80 Amp esc. Nor knowing alot about rc planes and elec.motors I just want to make sure I get the right motor I know the 5065 is a little bigger then what it calls for what I need to know how to figure prop size and pitch the motor is a outrunner and how do I make sure I get the right esc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks gary hill.

What size motor is equal to an OS Surpass .91 on an Extra 300 . I want to convert engine to electric .
@dagtheaviator Жыл бұрын
I will have to do a bit of research. What size and pitch prop does it turn and at what RPM?
@waynemiller6070 Жыл бұрын
@@dagtheaviator I have the same question. Mine was turning a 12 x 12-ish prop
