use almost 3 years as a dash cam (motorbike), now can't deal with strong rain, water will get into the cam and make the lens blur(water vapor), LCD screen got 1 vertical line, but still ok by now

The image was so shaky, it makes me wonder if the stabilization feature is faulty. There is some audio processing going on. The louder you talk, the louder the noise floor. Thank you for the review.

I even tried with the EIS off (just in case they had it set backwards in the menu) and there was no difference at all.

@@ThriftyAV This SJCAM Action Cams channel is fake ! I have the latest firmware on my camera and I just got a reply from SJCAM saying they are working on a fix for the EIS. Send SJCAM an email via their website and someone from marketing will contact you.

Case will muffle voice also, so it is a loose, loose, that is why many action cams have external mic.

My M20 isn't working right now. Not sure if it was the rain or the bloated battery I managed to extract. It powers on then shuts down immediately. So now I am on the lookout for another affordable action camera. But I keep coming back to the M20. It's easy to mount due to its size, and the image quality and stabilization is sufficient enough for me. I found the alternatives lacking compared to this very capable ancient action camera. C200 - The good: Sony IMX335; 1200mAh battery, better than on C300; 154° FOV better than C200 Pro C200 Pro - 135° FOV only. Colors look dry and uninspiring. C300 - Same as C200 Pro - colors are muted and lacks pop.

I just checked via their website and mobile app and no firmware updates, so my opinion of this camera stays the same. It's a shame as SJCAM used to provide updates for their cameras all the time.

That form factor is nice! And you know the M20 was my favorite! Audio's not good though, much better with the lapel mic! I like M20 better.

Video looks good. EIS is terrible on this. What an amazing difference between the internal and external microphone! Personally, I would pass on this one.

Thanks for the info about how you can raise the mic volume between 1 and 8. I didn’t notice that tidbit in other reviews. Do the Akaso Brave and the Osmo Action cameras also have that same capability of changing the mic volume on the cam itself?

Again..after SJCAM took down three support tickets without answering I switched to GoPro and have never looked back. I would not even entertain the thought of an SJCAM after what I've been through. The stabilization on this camera is underwhelming as well.

SJCAM has really changed a lot over the past 2 years. The Hero 7 and 8 are solid cameras for me along with the Osmo Action

Amongst my new Victure AC920, and my lovely Campark X20 action cameras, I still use my trusty SJ Cam SJ4000, (1.5 inch rear screen), an action camera which, like everyone else did, is modified for an external 3.5mm plug-in microphone! (The SJ4000 is stabilised in the video editor), I prefer all my cameras to be supplied with a separate plastic waterproof case to give me the best video and audio options, especially when motorcycling! Take care, all!... 😀...😀...!

I'd be really interested in seeing you do some reviews of some mirrorless DSLRs for video. One of my cams is a Sony A6000 and while it has its limitations I've been very satisfied with the results I've gotten from it. Just thought that since it's a few years old maybe tech has advanced where it might be time to get another mirrorless cam.

Andre the EIS was not good at all. Audio and EIS on M20 was better. All in all, would sadly not buy either camera. 👍
