Duncan is right, you should put a windmill on the roof. It will make so much power. And I have to wonder wether or not they will move the computer. On the one hand, they rarely move stuff once they’ve placed it, but on the other hand that’s normally because Lewis is screaming about how “fine” the set up is. I really hope they do move it when the time comes.

If you guys are interested in something to hide the cables, so as to not ruin your aesthetic of the base, there used to be "facade" that you could build out of basically anything to hide where your cables or pipes went. Running it under the floors? Plank facade. Thru the walls? Boom. Marble facade. Your mileage may vary depending on mod compatibility, but it may still be an option.

AE2 has a facade for every block to use on ME cables, I’m pretty sure there’s something called a structuralduct that also makes any block into a universal facade but I can’t remember what mod that’s from

The problem with Minecraft is that big builds look amazing, since the bigger it is the more detail you can add, but they're extremely impractical. Like really they shouldn't even need to use up like more than a floor or two of the science building.. The smith is never going to be used aside from occasionally making a tool/weapon.. I love Sjin's ideas behind his builds, but they just never follow through with it. Like even now in the science building there's so much space but Ben is building the most compact machine he can for no reason..

If going the gas-burning generator route, try using ethylene gas. It's a bit more involved to make than something that burns hydrogen/oxygen, taking produce/carrots, crushing them into bio-mass, putting that with hydrogen which Ben already has machines for in a pressurized reaction chamber to make ethylene gas. Produces 2,500RF/t per gas generator. Plus, with speed/energy upgrades, all you need is more gas generators and a bigger farm to increase power production.

If you going to move the computer I suggest not to use any sort of packaging / carrying thingy on the drive with the disks inside of them, because that often only saves the drive but not the disks which means you could lose all your items inside.

I would recommend upgrading the grid to a crafting grid. It gives the ui a crafting table so you don't have to move away from the computer for basic crafting. You can also set up an auto-crafting system using crafters which allows you to queue up items to craft and the computer will auto-craft however many of those you want using the resources in the drives. There's a lot of useful information about it on the wiki.

The mod Terrafirmacraft for Minecraft changed how you mine so it was how they were mentioning it. It makes it so if you mine a stone it gives you little chunks of rock. If you want to actually get a full block of stone, you have to mine all of the blocks on its sides for it to "pop off". Actually Terrafirmacraft, even though it's not in development anymore, is a mod I'd love to see the Yogscast play. The amount it changes and such should get them interested.

They could just use Ender Io conduits, that way they just need to have one main cable since you can add both computer and power to the same cable, and that way they can put the controller and drives on another floor, and have a grid on every floor, since wireless is quite late game

Razzeil they eat a proportionate amount of power though. As in a basic smelting factory (3 times the normal factory) also uses 3 times the power. Good for compact systems though!

@@some_meme6707 The cool thing about them is that they only use more power when they are operating with more items at a time, for ex. a factory running on 4/7 slots would consume 4 times a normal machine's worth of power. And with an energy storage device you can basically trade charge for time saved otherwise waiting. Another important thing to use is the energy upgrades on all the machines, as that would make then use bugger-all power, like 2 rf/t or something. It's more power efficient to use a factory with energy upgrades than a sped up machine.

Watching them struggle with power is excruciating, I don't see why they don't use Magmatic dynamos from Thermal Foundation, it's extremely efficient, not to mention, since they've got access to the mining dimension and the nether, They've literally got a limitless supply of lava, just get some top tier tanks from either open blocks or from thermal foundation fill them up and once they get low you swap the tank out with another one and repeat the process, otherwise you could use netherrack in a magma crucible and then pump the lava into the magmatic dynamo for even more lava than what the dynamo can use

It would be cheaper to make a colossal chest and than make an external storage cable. this way you don't need to make a bunch of storage drives right away. The power problem can again be solved with just a bunch of windmills put on a platform in the sky. The windmills are way OP they produce a lot of power and having just a simple chunk wide platform at the near 240 y level makes way more power then you need.

Also do this mod stuff not have the magmatic generator where you can use lava to create power. The same way they do in PO 3...... it creates pretty decent power and pretty cheap so they can make multiple. Just make a fired crucible and cobble gen with heat sand. Unlimited lava...... wtf. Or just 100 wind gens.

Making lots of shit storage drives is cooler though. A computer that is 20 full blocks of storage looks better than a computer that is just one disk drive and a console. Server bank vs home pc.

No, you're not storing "1000 items", you have 1k storage bytes available. You can fit 63 different items in it, each can have up to about 3500 units each. Practical tip: One 256k drive to contain your top 60 largest-quantity items (redstone, iron ingots, cobblestone etc, this drive can hold about a million units of each item), nineteen 1k drives for everything else (will allow you to bank about 1200 different items up to 3,500 units apiece).

You're thinking of AE2, they're using Refined Storage. The 1k drives store 1k items and there is no limit to the how many different items can be stored.
