Freddie and Brian wrote this together before Live Aid. There was an album Queen had recorded, but felt it needed one more song. The two of them stayed after the session and wrote this song that evening. Sorry, I forgot which album it’s on, but I do agree with you that it was a perfect song for Live Aid! 😊

A bit late, but I believe the album in question is The Works.

Great reaction! This is why the song is not included in Queen's Live Aid set because it is that one Queen song that does get blocked, this specific performance is owned by Live Aid not by Queen themselves. Is This The World We Created, is from Queen's 1984 album The Works. Freddie and Brian did actually the song about the Ethiopian famine crises, but it was done before Live Aid and before the Live Aid single, Do They Know It's Christmas time? It just so happened that Queen wrote a song about the exact same topic. It is was the ideal song to perform at Live Aid. There was a small gap open in the schedule and they were asked if they could perform, this was much later in the night closer to the end of the show. It is just this one version that gets blocked, you can react to the Wembley 1986 version, for example, and it does not get blocked. A somewhat different song and amazing performance that you should check out from Queen is The White Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975 kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGnYpIGgad1shKM or for a rocking number check out Now I am Here Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1979 kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppzOd36Loqt9bZI.

Freddie could sing a phone book and make it sound amazing. He was born just a couple of years too soon.

Beautiful song!! Freddie & Brian clean up well 😁. I wish there was a time machine I’d go to Montreal 1981, Milton Keynes 1982, Live Aid 1985, Wembley 1986 concerts!! I’d definitely drop into Garden Lodge. 🥰

Freddie and Brian wrote this song in 1984 and Queen performed it at every concert from 1984 through the end of their touring in 1986. They were asked to be a part of the finale of Live Aid (1985) since the song fit so perfectly with the concert. It is a stunning song sung by the incredible Freddie accompanied by Brian's meticulous playing of his 12 string acoustic guitar in front of 70,000+ people at Wembley Stadium and millions of people worldwide who were glued to their televisions. I get goosebumps - and have shed a tear or two - every time I hear it. Note that there is a video of the Rio de Janiero concert (Rock in Rio, 1985) where Freddie and Brian performed this song in front of at least 250,000+ people. It is mind blowing to hear the response from the audience at that concert for this song as well as "Love Of My Life".

Finally could come back, I adore this performance. At least they let you have the audio 🙃. And they both looked & sounded amazing. They did not write this specially for this show. Brian & Freddie wrote a “filler” song for an album & they were aware of the growing horrible starvation situations at that time. Geldof asked them to do this song specifically. There is a short interview of them. The interviewer helps the boys have a hold my beer moment lol.
