Helpful, and seems like you need a steering control adapter only if the head unit has a single steering control wire, since the model in this video has the three wires, it's compatible straight to the three oem wires.

"Back up control. And that tells the unit when the backup camera is energized by the back up lights" - This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! The manual is a bit unclear on what actually triggers the unit to switch over to showing the rear camera view and now I see that it's triggered by the red/black wire (on the other end of the cable) being connected into the reverse light. I came back to this and and you probably have one of the cleanest OEM Camera placement install. I was afraid I might get the whole wrong, but seeing your video I am sure its an easy placement. Another place I thought of putting it was right inside the half of moon shape of the nissan Emblem, They way you did it is less prone to being smashed if tailgate should come down hard on something. I have since installed the Tailgate assist as well as Pop and Lock Power Tailgate option, both work great. I don't know how i missed the Camera installation area the first time, but I am glad I came back to this video. Thanks again.

@@br0ki3z In the video, he shows the 3 wires for the steering wheel buttons are in a tiny 3 pin connector. My radio used a 3.5mm 3 conductor plug (like for stereo headphones). My notes show that the blue wire from pin 71 of the chassis connector connects to the sleeve of the 3.5mm radio steering control plug. The gray wire from pin 70 connects to the ring of the 3.5mm plug, and the red wire from pin 69 goes to the tip of the 3.5mm plug. If I remember correctly, I had to splice into the 3 wires I described in the harness going to the chassis plug, as I chose to not just cut them loose and attach the plug. I hope this helps.

I have the Sjoybring android radio Model A018. It's a good and cheap option for someone that wants and decent android radio with plenty of features GPS Maps and waze mirroring as well as with a front and back up camera, and the front camera can be rotated to record inside of your car or any interaction with law enforcement revenue collectors. I just wish it came with a fake CD slot as I really miss my CD Gps holder 😢 We can't have it all 🤷🏻‍♂️ I installed mine in an 06 CC 4.0 Engine Nissan Frontier as well, Thanks for sharing 🤗 Update- It will be two years this May 2024 and this Radio is working fine.

The connectors that come with the stereo join with these connectors to make the harness as shown in the video. The kit didn't come with a connector for the steering wheel controls. We had to cut the wires from the factory harness and solder them to the small connector that came with the stereo as shown in the video.

Thanks for the video, I did everything here pretty much exactly the same, but I’m not getting any power to my rear or front camera. Instead of soldering, I just crimped everything and I grounded all black cables into current grounded cables by using splice connectors. I’m not sure what else to do, any suggestions?

check the grounds for continuity and power wires for 12v when you select them. Sounds like one or the other.

That is the antenna wire and is only used if you have a power antenna. The frontier has a fixed antenna

Thanks for the instructions. I got done with mine and now the airbag light (by the speedometer) is constantly flashing. I assume this is from me unplugging and replugging the passenger airbag light in the center dash unit there... Did I do something wrong, or how can I fix that?

The stereo came with a backup camera that is a little cube, but we used one we got from amazon that is beveled for a more integrated look. Instead of a bracket, we drilled through the plastic housing for the tailgate handle and mounted the camera through that hole. it is shown in the last part of the video. Hope that helps.

I assuming your harness kit didn’t come with a new antenna adapter plug that has a single blue wire on it as well. I’m trying to figure out where I have to connect that blue wire. Do I connect to blue/white wire on the metra harness that says it’s for antenna OR do I wire it to the blue wire on the sjoybring stereo harness that goes connected to the metra harness. Or do I just not connect that antenna adapter at all and just plug in the old antenna plug into sjoybring? Sorry for the paragraph I’m just stuck at this last spot and want to get it right before I go ahead and solder wires.

You only connect the antenna wire if you have a power retracting and extending antenna. Those are not common these days so most people don't connect it. It is not for radio reception. It is the trigger to tell your antenna to extend or retract.

No. It is my son's truck and he bought the camera from Amazon. Because it mounts underneath the handle area, he got one that has a 45 degree angle to it and it included a few angles shims in case you need a little more or less angle. Works great.

I have a similar Sojoybring for a 2005 Nissan Titan, and Im hoping the steering wheel control harness is similar so I wont need to install a ASWC-1 Steering Control Interface. Id rather just have direct wiring and use the SJoybring setup for the steering wheel. Crossing fingers

We got ours on amazon. If there is a direct ground, you can use that with going through the adapter.

You probably do. With the Frontier we didn't but it depends on the vehicle interface. We just put a Kenwood in my son's RAM 1500 (see video on my channel) and needed an adapter. Works great.

Does your truck have a satellite antenna? Maybe one is the satellite radio connector.

@@thehomerepairguy I had to research it but apparently it’s something called a diversity antenna. Mine has 2 antennas and it just chooses which one is best. So to use it I have to custom make an adapter so that it uses both and both input into a single output.

Maybe. I can't remember the colors, but I could only get one pair of steering wheel control wires to work. The other two didn't, so it might be those. With the single pair we could get three functions to program so we picked the commands he wanted most.

It is confusing because the front camera gets its power from the stereo. The rear camera gets power from the backup light wire. So they are different. The front camera is easier because there is one less wire. You ground the camera black wire to some clean metal spot or screw. You hook up the front camera wire from the stereo to the red wire that is attached to the video cable and the other end of that wire to the red camera power wire. You run the video wire from the camera to the stereo front camera video port. hope that helps.

It is an SJOyBring radio. I pasted the amazon link below. As long as the mounting and wiring is the same as an 07 Frontier, it will work fine. One caution: the center bezel can break apart when you remove it if it is sun damaged. Ours did so we had to buy one on ebay. It is a slightly darker gray but gives the truck a modern two tone look. I took a aftermarket radio out of my 2008 Nissan Frontier, and put in the original. The radio works fine, but the cd player does not. Keeps spitting the cd out. Any thoughts on why, or is there a color wire just for the cd player ?
