It really goes to show great talent and dedication. I also really like the humbleness of the XF team. Keep up the great work. As an aside, its great to see the renewed interest in these older Benzes, I recently learnt that a shop in California is putting the E39 M5 6-Speed behind the M117 engines in the 126 chassis.

Here is some feedback. You may want to get a CNC plasma or waterjet cutter for flat shapes like those 7:05. They are faster and cheaper to operate. Plasma cutters can have problems cutting Aluminium so do some research or go with waterjet. 10:45 You are mounting the cylinder facing toward the driver. The preferred way would be away so it doesn't take away floor space. You could have done it by opening a hole on the floor and then incasing it with sheet metal.

Question, after some research it looks like a crossfire mt will bolt up to the m113k and I even found a thread on a mb forum of someone swapping both the m113k and crossfire trans into an s13. With that being said would you still have to keep the flex plate like you had to in a previous video or do you think since it's technically mb parts you could replace them directly and ditch the flex plate?
@TheMercedesSwapShop
@TheMercedesSwapShop 4 жыл бұрын
The trans might not hold up long term, but it bolts up perfectly and you can use the crossfire/SLK master cylinder, slave, pedal, all of it. I’ve built many manual M113’s with that trans mine being the oldest worldwide at 8 years and I haven’t had any problems. The m113k ecu was figured out about 5/6 months ago and that’s my next swap I’ve been planning using that transmission.

As someone who might be interested in doing this swap, I would personally need to see a little more elegant interior integration in order to pull the trigger on it. Hoping that the info people added here in the comments could possibly be used to integrate factory Benz pedals in the future. My 722.6 is starting to fail on me, slipping in second gear in particular, and I am considering my options for repair/replacement. The high cost of rebuilding a 722.6 is a bit mind blowing. One thing that I personally always thought would be a perfect fit with the E55 would be to swap a ZF 8HP90 into it. It would avoid the issues with pedal integration, etc, and offer an effective modernization of the transmission. From what I can see, you would need to make an adapter plate, adapt the drive shaft, change the gear shift lever to one that works with the ZF (it's electronically controlled rather than a lever) and a transmission controller. Probably some other coding that would need to be done as well to fully integrate it with the car. Sure, a manual would be more fun, but I personally have an issue with my left foot from a motorcycle accident that makes it painful to drive a manual car with a stiff clutch, and it seems likely nearly any clutch option that can handle the power involved would be a bit stiff. That bottom hinged pedal would also be a problem for me. The ZF seems like the next best thing. Anyone who has driven a car with one knows they are nearly indistinguishable from a DSG or similar.

@alanfish3317
@alanfish3317 4 жыл бұрын
@@thelongranger55 Yeah, I have been quoted 3000 Euro for that here in Germany. considering I can buy a rebuild kit that includes all of the parts they are going to replace for under $200, they are basically charging 28 or so hours labor to do the job if you figure around 100 Euro per hour labor fees which is about average here. I highly doubt it would take a pro 28 hours to do this job. 8-10 sounds about right.
@thelongranger55
@thelongranger55 4 жыл бұрын
@@alanfish3317 you realize it’s not all profit ? They have to buy the parts , the new transmission it’s self , the trans mount , the new oil and filters & they even replaced my rear main seal for free , that rear main seal job alone is a big job and your lucky if you can find an honest guy to tell you it’s bad when he’s in there , most will put it back with old rear main seal that still leaks oil so you can come back to them for that job independently so they make more cash 💰 , for my w211 e55 that’s a really good price for a new transmission
@alanfish3317
@alanfish3317 4 жыл бұрын
@@thelongranger55 Yes, obviously it's not all profit. But that quote is for rebuilding my existing transmission, not providing a new one. The parts involved might total around $300-400 tops, including a rear main seal which I would insist they replaced as mine has a slight leak and it's a 5 minute job with the transmission removed. The rest is purely labor charges. For reference, 3,000 Euro is over $3600 at the moment. so they are charging over $3000 for the labor alone. They are basically quoting it as roughly a 30 hour job, when I know it should take a pro more like 8 to actually complete.

A handy machinist tip: Make the insert half a mm too big and put it in the freezer. Then heat the two drive shaft halves and you can slide it all on and the metal will bond and it will form a structural part of the drive shaft and the weld is almost superfluous. There is no way the drive shaft is coming apart at the weld.

The factory pedal you wont be cutting carpet and insulation and I agree with others I dont like the pedal being mounted at the bottom. He should of done it mounted on the firewall. But I can see why he did it how he did it. Making a custom pedal that mounts vertically and mounting it would likely be a PITA.

Great job!! Did you consider using the park switch as the clutch pedal switch? Then, the clutch system would be complete :-)

Hello I am looking for a little bit of help with something I am considering doing. I am very curious if a Chrysler crossfire transmission manual will swap over and meet up to a 2007 Mercedes c230 sport. 2.5v6

I have asked this before but is there a way to have a hand operated clutch lever possible, that is mounted on the gear lever. Your shift speed will be faster and clutch control more smooth. Could you please make a kit for this I think it will be really useful for everyone especially for ppl with knee injuries.

Why not buy a manual transmission pedal box from the Mercedes Parts Catalog? Edit: I am certain there is a European variant of the W211 chassis with a manual ‘box.

Hi, die hard fan here with you since the beginning of the ASL project. What an amazing work you have done! One thing I don't understand though.. wouldn't it be possible to use pedal assembly and shifter + trim from a manual w211? Would be really nice to have everything like from factory. Keep up the great work, wish you the best!

I just finished my manual conversion of my SLK R170 with V6 Kompressor Engine. It has the same ECU and TCU like yours. I could not find a solution to get the SC working at first. Using a separate circuit for the clutch sent the ECU in limp mode because it sees boost where no boost should be. I could not find a solution in start diagnosis, even with help from some very good (and super friendly) experts. I got help from a guy that decoded the CAN databus messages from TCU and from another guy here in Germany. He programmed a small CAN sender. So my ECU gets „faked“ TCU messages to let it think that transmission is running in gear, shifter is in D and transmission is happy with torque ;-) Car is perfect now. Feel free to ask if you need help with that!

Awesome work! Of course using oem clutch pedal assembly like others said was an option, but who cares! What you made instead is pretty cool! Gives me motivation to try a custom pedal setup in the C55. If only the gas pedal was better positioned... Excited to see the next steps, especially the supercharger being added back in the mix 🔥
