Love this song, and love that this is coming out in harvest season.

One of the most impressive depictions of the Reaper I've seen, and yet he's just simply holding an authentic scythe and entirely enshrouded. I would love to have this as a costume for this season.
@JosiahWendell-sr8vi27 күн бұрын
For real, the cosplay is very good. I could pull off a Reaper like that, but I would just be copying that depiction.

Lyrics, I did this by ear so there may be mistakes: (Verse 1) Lord of the Harvest, Master of Scythe Open the fields and collect your prize Woe to you John Barley-corn Rest in peace upon the miller's stone(Chorus) Oh the harvest got your teeth and its dragging me under Put down the sword turn the millstone round Oh Demeter's embrace holds the sun to the land, Til Skadi brings her hammer down (Chorus) Oh the harvest got your teeth and its dragging me under Put down the sword turn the millstone round Oh Demeter's embrace holds the sun to the land, Til Skadi brings her hammer down Til Skadi brings her hammer down x2 (Verse 2) Reaper man, Reaper man is coming today, Though your fields to strike the corn down, Reaper man, Reaper man lay them all to rest And let the land sleep at Winter's behest. (Chorus) Oh the harvest got your teeth and its dragging me under Put down the sword turn the millstone round Oh Demeter's embrace holds the sun to the land, Til Skadi brings her hammer down (Verse 3) I thought I heard the old Man say, John Barley-corn will soon lie in his grave, One for the Rook, one for the Crow One will whither and one will grow (Chorus) Oh the harvest got your teeth and its dragging me under Put down the sword turn the millstone round Oh Demeter's embrace holds the sun to the land, Til Skadi brings her hammer down Til Skadi brings her hammer down x2

Andy should write more songs for the band. This song goes so hard. Also, I love transition of the field from full to harvested. Gave me chills when I realized what had happened.

This is really cool. I’ve been running a very low magic folky D&D game with a focus on the discreet clash between folk tradition and organised religion and I feel like this song hits the same vibes. I’ve just had the harvest festival in game or I might have taken inspiration from this song.

My dad just passed. Every year he’d plant sunflowers, and between the story of Skadi, the general awesomeness of the song, and those dead sunflowers, I may be crying a little.

Fantastically adequate and well worth the wait for, I presume, the video you have been hinting about "having ideas for" but it being a bit complicated. I've loved this song, with its eerie vibe, since I first heard it and the video really fits the tone. Well done to all involved! You always show up with new output just when I really need it.

@onebigadvocado6376Ай бұрын
Oh, no! It's a steamed scythe! Old TLJ family recipe!
@kristaberck6821Ай бұрын
Demeter is likely the one with the scythe. The song sings like a prayer to demeter, for a good harvest as she is the godess of agriculture and the harvest. Skadis hammer would be winter, presumably, which in most places signals the end of crop season. Cool tune
