With Scott at the helm, we have a somewhat decent chance that it will be pretty good considering his chops.

Skallagrim I hope you read this, I have a question it’s about a certain sword in the game for honor that the hero Warlord uses, or at least it’s just the blade. The blade is call Gudbrand and it has a serrated edge, now I know how serrated blades or very practical for cutting but the way this sword is, is different in the way that the serrated blades are actually pointing towards the tip of the sword and I’m wondering would that still not be a great idea to have for a sword? I hope you see this cuz it would make and interesting video. Your awesome have a good day.

@Skallagrimand everyone who wants to help :P Hi i wanted to ask you for advice for my first sharp sword. There are 3 options for me atm. I want a Longsword. 1. Hanwei Tinker (but i dont have tools or expirience for a propper edge grind and from what i red they come quite dull) 2. Cold Steel Italian Longsword (I personaly like the itailan more but i mainly want to know if it holds up well) 3. Cold Steel Hand and a Halve Sword (no doubt the better cutter but so much better ?) 4. if you know anything good in the sub 500 range that is a good and durable sword im allways open for advice ty in advance and ty for all the content :) loove it

you can find books/manuscripts that detail the actions enough to self-teach but any self taught action such as martial arts or sword play, has its down side, which is the transition from "forms" and "shadow boxing" to actual combat effectiveness please refer to this video by metatron for further explaination kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6C9p62gea12itE how ever, simply "trying it out" and going through trial and error with shadow boxing and sparring can result in some level of competency, especially if you invovle "heavy(full contact) sparring" and combat simulation, just dont expect to emerge from your self-training and be a badass though ofcourse you must use great care for safety oh hey! my next search turned up this vid from skall, so he touched on this topic aswell kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYCtgn2HrJp6os0

HEMA is, as the name implies, is a form of martial art. That means sport and personal defense, as opposed to warfare. It would not be wrong to include techniques a soldier would have used, but it is neither common nor the focus.
@AtticusHimself
@AtticusHimself 6 жыл бұрын
RNJesus is wrong/spreading misinformation. HEME doesn't stand for "A Form of Martial Art", it stands for Historical European Martial Arts, and basically a very absurdly large umbrella term that covers everything from waving your hands around as a method of civilian self-defense, to stances, techniques, formations and tactics used in historical combat.
@AtticusHimself
@AtticusHimself 6 жыл бұрын
And let's not be too dumb/blind and remember that "combat" can be anything from a duel in an alleyway to a large-scale battle. Don't let RNJesus pull the wool over your eyes. I can tell (s)he knows much more than they let on and are deliberately trying to fool you. Russian bot?

The price is high because I'm a small-time guy. I chose hardback, large size, and the most expensive color options I could get, which has all led to the 60 dollar price-tag. I may do a paperback to get a cheaper version, but no way could I get to 20 dollars even that route. The expensive color options for a small-time publisher is what is behind the high costs.

Recently bought my first sword from Kult of Athena, it is a simple arming sword that was right in my price range. The sheath/scabbard alone made me fall in love with it. What do you think? Did I get a good deal? I don't plan on doing anything extreme with it, just swing it around at a park and take photos with it. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=AH6972R_HG&name=Knightly+Arming+Sword

Any chance of a Kindle edition?

Likely not, but I may do a cheaper paperback! If enough pressure and interest came my way I could do kindle. HEMA is so niche, I need to be careful on price-point and quality!

At the moment, no. The book is done with the idea of popular history behind it and you may do fine.

Hello Skal, i do not know how to contact you, so i try it here, although you may have seen the video yourself. There's an interesting initiative going on from the great JoergSprave and, considerng the content of your channel, it may be of interest also for you to check it out. It's his latest video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2i1l4yqlNVlo80

If someone pushed a pizza cutter into you, would it be a stab or a cut?
@alt-bringer5198
@alt-bringer5198 6 жыл бұрын
ill assume your talking about the common "roller" or disk cutter and not the traditional large half moon blade type, but either way the surface is large enough to where your not getting a piercing "stab" wound but a pressure induced cut "slice" wound
