Skar RP-800.1D Overview and Amp Dyno

Appreciate you showing the current draw. Notice a lot of people who video amp dyno never show that. I’ve been into car audio for thirty years, and skar getting a bad rap is funny to me. Their product is insanely cheap, always hit numbers higher than advertised and works well. People overdrive equipment and then complain it’s crap. A properly planned system, dialed in and played with in thresholds will tell you how good a product is. Skar is hands down the best budget buy. Although I haven’t tried their subs, their amps slam. I just bought the 800 mono block and those numbers are impressive from such a small package.

If you don't have a remote clip light, a DSP with the limiters set properly is the best safety net if you like riding your amps just under clipping!!

Great little amp and good value. It faces stiff competition in that price range, as Recoil RED1200.1, AudioZerone ZE1000, Memphis SE2000, and even Stinger MT700.1 are all cheaper and perform the same if not better.

@@jaydawg4065 absolutely. Most of these amps are great performers, and the features are mostly the same, built on old school, but proven, pcb boards. The unfortunate part is that people are still overpaying “big brands” like RF or JL or Kicker for 1/5th the output and 3x the price.

The recoil and AudioZerone are full of much cheaper components than the skar though. I can't speak on the others, but I would imagine the stinger and memphis are pretty solid boards too. Memphis has always been an underrated SQL brand imo.

I have two RP-1200's and have had them very hot with use and they still perform good. I think I paid a fair price for the value and performance I get from them.

Thanks a bunch! Those are some big boys! You’ll need some nice electrical for any of them, and you’ve probably already got that squared away. Those are all nice amps for sure, but I’d probably have to go with the JP63. It’s the only one that’s half bridge, so built a little more beefy. I like full bridge just fine, but they can be finicky, as they are already maxed out with their design. My Son has been running my Sundown SFB 8k for a while now, and it’s done a great job, but he’s about to switch back to a SALT in his Tahoe. If not the JP, I’d probably try out the Big Boss. @@stereomojo Yea they some big boys lol. Finally moving up the food chain. And yea I got the electrical for it. I got a 320 mechman 2 80 amp hour AGMs and some headways. Prob kinda cutting it close but should be able to handle it. I agree with you on the JP 63 you can never really go wrong with a half bridge. And I've seen y'all's build on one of yalls videos. Y'all have a really nice build man. I'm thinking about going with some sundown subs like yall. Thinking about the sundown x12 V2 if there's any left to buy by the time I go to buy it. Saw they are on sale at Down for Sound for $499. Anyways I'm rambling lol I'll def let you know what I decide to go with. And my name is Dane btw. It was nice talking with you my baw.

Still a good budget brand- at least the rp Xover is 24db/octave, unlike the other budgets, tend to be at 12db/octave& 24sounds better to me( which is subjective ofc.)

The RP line is very inefficient below 4ohm. The amps get real hot too.

Well I have two strapped rp4500’s to one sub at half ohm and only get warm after 30 minutes full tilt

@@bondalero0074 I have two but only using one for now fi audio mt12’s they are rated at 4500 rms but they handle two 4500’s at 60% full tilt no problem and at 100% about 20 minutes before the voice coils start cooking so I back it off.
