Skar sdr 18 review (part 2) box for 2 18s finished!

Finished my speaker box and got it in the car, got the sdr 18s in and they surprised me!

Looks good. I've built around 25 sub boxes and several custom door panels. I'm currently finishing up the system in my 08 Yukon Denali. Got a very nice system in it now but I want to hit 150. I have 2-18" Skar EVL's in a 10.4 net cuft box tuned at 31hz. I have a JP33 amp pushing 4K rms. 2 batteries, big 3, 2 runs of 0ga OFC wire. Only have a 160 alt right not but getting a smaller pulley to keep the volts at peak when just at idle. A total Rockford Fosgate front stage- mids and highs, amps and DSP. Still about 3wks away from getting to hear it. I work on it after I get off of work here at my bosses shop. I still have my current system in my Yukon so when I swap it will all be in one day, even trim panels to make everything clean and professional. I'm super picky. I'm hitting 147.8 with 1420w rms right now....so fingers 🤞

winsid is the go to program to use for box design its free and its good learn how to use it and go with round ports till you get your box building skills up ...i use bassbox and termlab. good job with the town car i want to do one myself but they hard to find these days

Nice you might want to go with the hdx3s. The motor is 300oz. The EVLs are under 200oz.

That’s what I want the hdx3s that’s what I built the box for it’s just 900 for 2 compared to 600. 2 hdx on a 5k and it would be slammin!

Go with EVLs! I’m running 2 EVL 15s on one sk2500v2. 1250 rms on each sub, might be higher for the 18🤔 not sure.

I've got two 18 sdrs with infinity kappa 62ix too , using a 1200 taramps for the subs and a 4000 2 channel gravity (really only 800) for the kappas

I do not recommend the EVL line of subwoofer. The are the most warranty replaced subwoofer. The QC on them, isn't good at all, the ts specs are bad as well, and they are hugely inefficient subwoofers. Kevin didn't design that line, and the motor isn't that strong. I love Skar, have ran their products for many years, just giving some advice.

@DCAudioFTW I'm fully aware, of the build houses that skar uses, not only for their subwoofers, but amplifiers as well. We chose not to receive the samples we were working on, with one of the build houses, that they use. I do not bash brands, I just know the evl line, is a failed attempt at an sq driver. All of their products are decent to good, for the money.

@DCAudioFTW 90% of all subwoofers, are assembled and built in 3 build houses in China. And most of the ones "assembled" in the U.S still use parts from China as well, from the ferrite,neo, or assembled motors, cones, spiders, caps, basket. Some just utilize coils from Precision Econowind. It really just boils down, to what brand you like, and what you can afford. There is no "best" brand of drivers, or amplifiers. Every brand, has its place in audio.

And it isn't "cause" it is, "because" in your previous comment. I'm not a nut hugger, for any brand. And I do not prefer, to bash any brands either. And, I did not opt, to tell you anything, you didn't already know. My original comment, was only my opinion, of that line of subwoofers, from Skar, and that line of drivers only, from Kevin. I assume you like Rusty's brand of equipment, from your screen name, and that's great...he has solid products. 👍

I also have a single 18in zvx V2 but it came with dual 1.5 ohm coils. I'm running them from a Vulcan 3K at three-quarter ohm in a 5.5 cubic ft ported enclosure in my Toyota Tundra extra cab. Not quite a full crew cab

I got me 1 sdr 10 in a corolla and that thing knocks for what it is its crazy especially when they break in it gets louder but yeah man good job on the box is nice as fuck
