I feel like this rework was a great opportunity for riot to do something similar to what they did with Volibear, where they made an additional skin that appealed more to a different fantasy of what the champion should be, and gave it away for free to people who played Volibear right after his rework. Especially considering they are currently making the Crystalis Indomitus skinline, why isn't there a skin for Skarner?

The Voli skin, before the skin retcon, was a lore skin since he had 2 wildly different lore accurate directions he could've been taken in and they had very similar reception so they went with both. With Skarner they pretty much settled on him being a bland scorpion with earth powers right out the gate, he had a very short lived stint as a hextech cyborg (which is where Sandscourge got most of its design basis from) but that's it.

Voli skin was essentially a scrapped model for his rework. They initially went with the dark/lovecraftian design but they ended up scrapping this idea but since the model was already done and was still pretty popular they made a skin of it.

Years ago they used to make “traditional” skins where it was designed and modeled based on the champion’s OLD version on the new rig and animations. If I’m not mistaken those traditional skins have old voice lines as well. For people who loved the old self of the champs. Only Trundle, Karma and Sejuani have those. Despite Sejuani’s change being extremely minimal. Then they no longer made those skins because “visual reworks no longer make as drastic of a change on champs so we don’t need traditional skins.” As if stuff like Sion, Mordekaiser, Swain, Evelynn, Galio, Udyr and Skarner didn’t happen. Where the new version is almost completely different from the old one. And I didn’t even include stuff like Yorick, Poppy, Kayle, Morgana, Urgot, Volibear, Warwick etc. where the change was not as drastic as the others but still a thousand times bigger than what happened with Sejuani.

Earthrune has veeeery minor particle differences. There's a subtle gold tint on all his normal particles, and the boulder's different. So, assuming it's getting a touchup in the next 2 weeks, it makes a bit more sense.

HOLY JANNA, Battlecast is so much cooler now The purple chroma for the Cosmic skin is by far my favorite Guardian of the Sands has a pillar he pulls for his Q, but the other 2 had a normal boulder. Runeguard has a cool crystal for his Q.

​@@Adri-N this might be my long opinion, so if you dont want to read it its okay. Just sharing my thoughts He is kind of right tho. I mentionned in the earlier video that the new cosmic Sting skin is a down grade. Why? Well, theres many reasons. First of all, i feel like the colors are not well used. Yes, its pretty colors, but they're not used as much as the old cosmic skin. The claws have this very pretty sky blue to purple gradient, and these same two colors are used on the whole body of the old asker skin. On the other hand, the new skin has these two vibrant colors on the claws only... the rest of the body is a deep, plain blue. Then, there the way gold is used on this skin. First of all, the gold doesnt look right with this color of blue. Its the same color issue as Xayah's cosmic skin. Color just doesnt fit... i couldve been a lite bit more yellow-orangy instead of yellow-greyish. The gold is also not everywhere in small amounts of different parts of the skin unlike the old skin, which i really liked. Then there's the tails and the claws. What i liked about the old skin is the way the tails were made. Multiple little spheres with a bit of white on the middle and multiple shades of blue. The stinger was also very pretty and unique. On this skin, the tails looked really rushed and unfinished.. its the same as the default skin, which i dont really like. I also dont like the shape of the claws. On the old skin, the claws had a very big, pretty and celestial shape, which got the vibrant colors. That new skin's claws, once again, are just taken from the default skarner skin. So yeahh.. i feel like they were really lazy with this skin, and some of his other skins, unfortunately

The battlecast skin is incredible, i would say my only little gripe is that it doesn't feel like he slams the boulder down onto his opponent with as much force as his base skin (on the 3rd auto), also the throw animation slightly unclear. I like that he really SLAMS the boulder down on you in his base skin, and also the throw animation is a lot clearer because Skarner actually swings his body to fling it. But other than that, top tier skin. Can't wait to hear the voicelines on it.
