Thanks for putting this out there. Gives an idea or perspective. I’m trying to dial my set up in a pump track. I think if I try to make a setup like the one shown here I may have to get used to the height.

Thank you! Man I hear you on it feeling tall. It was a bit odd at first but once I am skating it feels good. Keep us posted on your setup!

That's a solid set up for the Velosolutions tracks, pretty close to where I started and it's capable of getting fast enough to scare the crap out of you. Once you get to a certain speed the weak spot is going to be that board, the wheelbase specifically. Going up from a 15" wb vert board to a Madrid Dark Horse with a 19" made a huge difference, and it's got great wheel wells so I can lose 1/8" of riser. Initially I thought 15" wheelbase was super long but at speed over the bumps it gets squirrely. I love the 19.25" on my Madrid but I suspect it's a bit long and that around 18" is the pump track ideal, short enough to always be on the right plane when you pump but not so short as to get scary at full speed. Those wheels are really good, I love my 69mm 77a Sector 9 slalom wheels because they're so secure at speed but I went down to 65mm 80A and dropped lap times a bit, trading off some comfort. My first wheels were 59mm 85a Powell Soft Slides and they accelerate great but a bit too much vibration and they don't carry speed long enough. Try the Dragons if you already have them but I think you'll find them harder than you'd like but fast. The Powell SS are the same urethane as Dragon just softer and with a hard core and I still found 59mm/85a to have a bit more jitter at speed than I wanted. There is a for sure a sweet spot in wheel size where you balance the ability to accelerate it on each pump vs it's ability to carry that speed and I'm fairly confident now it's in the 64-66mm range, with 80-82A probably being the best place for durometer, definitely something with a hard core. Other than that I quite like my Bones Race Reds with the built in spacers so you can snug the whole wheel assembly down and for sure keep the back truck much tighter than the front so you don't get the wobbles once you hit warp speed. Hope this will save you a bit of money on the search for pump track nirvana, the quest for speed gets addicting. Happy trails!

@@hydroplainsdrifter that board looks RAD!! What width trucks are you using? Oh and thank you for the detailed response!!
@hydroplainsdrifterАй бұрын
@@oldmanskatejam The trucks are just 8.75 Indy forged hollows that came off my pool board. I'd like to swap them for some solid axle trucks if I can find some for cheap just from hearing rumors about hollow axle trucks getting vibrations at high speeds that might limit their top speed potential. But I'm sure that money is better spent on gas to get to the track more often since I'm at the point of diminishing returns for gear upgrades.

The color reminds me of slimeballs and your location takes me back in time to Mt. Trashmore. I think I'm gonna go searching for animal chin. Wish me luck 💜

@@Greywitch33 those Mt. Trashmore asphalt snake runs were still there when I first went but they were fenced off. They always fascinated me! Good luck with your search, keep us posted!!
