As an almost 43 year-old near-beginner, I wish it were as easy for me to have such an attitude. It kinda sucks when you see someone you look up to quit a certain activity that you yourself are just trying to get into, especially when the barrier of entry is so damn high. Glad to see that you're giving skating another shot. And congrats on the baby. 🙂

So glad I started watching you again. Your ability to process and articulate your emotions is next level and I love the life insights you give. You are a wise man.

I've loving these long form videos. Keep this up. 1 year of vlogging as much as you can. Let's go! Maybe capture some of your kid's early life. As an adult, I would have loved to see what my parents did when I was a kid. Let's go!

This raw style is dope... Love to hear you talk, love to watch you skate... When 99% of the video is you doing both at the same time it's enjoyable. ( The parkour progression stuff is cool too )

yo john, amazing video as always. Maybe for the crook nollie flip and the nollie crook nollie flip you can watch joseph garbaccio's technique. he's almost flicking down when doing it. he's so good that he pulls this trick in every cintest in his runs.

Same man, ironically just started getting the innocent love I have for skateboarding back, the love you have for it when you just started pushing around town and kinda popping ur tail. It was nice to see you, a pro I've followed for years, also getting that spark back, keep the vids up John, sad to see you move out of DFW but hope life is amazing bro🤝

This video had heavy commentary to it….I love it! I appreciate the way you let the audience “get to know you” through your videos. That’s something I want to begin doing in my videos as well…..just need to find out the best way? 🤷🏻♂️ haven’t finished the video yet, but it’s great so far! 17:56

It took me a while to get to this one because the shorter videos suit my life better. Funny enough though, I know exactly what you were saying with kickflip crooks "feeling cringe". How you were saying too far on the ledge or too far off makes them feel awful... I've actually found switch flip switch crooks easier because there's something about landing "fakie" in a switch crooked stance that feels waaaay more comfortable. I've find when I switch flip I'm able to shift my body weight forward more to the nose much easier and that makes switch flip switch nose manuals/crooks way easier. I've actually never kickflip crooked normally because it feels so awkward for me but I have done them switch. xD

I hear you man.. I am always happiest at work.. losing my self and being able to escape my own head is only accomplished by me diving into my creative processes.. I’m 50.. I use all my “free” time skateboarding.. people tell me I have to find other things and I felt bad about it for a long time .. I am finally realizing this is what i do and people can just deal with it cause I’m fine..

John whats the material of the surface of that grind box of yours?
@elikjazdzewski77106 ай бұрын
It looks like the “plastic lumber” type composite material. It’s used for Patio/Decks, and I’ve also seen that material on outside chairs, etc. if you walk into Home Depot and wander around a bit I think you’d find it! (Also I could be wrong, that’s just what it looks like to me)

i tweaked my knee and havent skated sice ( by that i mean done a trick. ive used it as transport like twice) but i think i was losing the drive to 1• learn and 2• push myself. maybe i was a bit disenchanted w skating for a minute and when i tweaked my knee it pushed me even further away. but insta gave me a random clip, then at work i got the feeling.. yanno like u look down at ur feet and u u imagine a trick, then you drop this.. and you make it look so fun, rudimentary, and vibey. Thankyou for making your videos. You really impact peoples lives. atleast me. I've missed you btw, im subscribed but youtube hasnt been sensing you my way as much.

Loving these man! I know you know this and it is of course a massive challenge but it would be really valuable for you if you could cut out some of the negative self talk. You'd never say that stuff to another skater trying their best and you don't deserve that either
