I've been trying to give a smoking addiction ever since I started to skate as skateboarding wasn't something I had picked up in my line of skills prior to my weed addiction. Ever since then I've felt a struggle between trying to confidently try new steps towards skate progression and confidently putting myself out there enough to make the mistakes necessary to become a better skatr. Your videos are fr something different like you have this feel of an old vhs instructor pointing out the most rudimentary basics but I feel like it's the alternative I needed to 'just do it.' Skateboarding is def a ratio'd experience with teh fear factor playing into everything someone like me can't do in a given moment. Learning something like this from someone like you is a great sobering experience, I hope you find success like the other up and coming skate channels.0 Form collabs, support each other, and don't stop enjoying yourself m8

JB, these CONTINUE to be the best videos available! I really appreciate the looser truck-pinch point advice as being key to all of these tricks. I am a fairly light guy and even with the nuts backed out to be flush, my Ace trucks weren't loose enough, so I recently shaved down my top bushings so I could have more room to back out the kingpin nuts. I noticed you don't run a bottom washer on your trucks. Do you find this to be your preferred set up? Idea for a future video: Truck set ups / bushing hardness / etc?
@SkateparkLessons3 жыл бұрын
Thank you CJ, I appreciate your kindness and support. Yes this is definitely my preference with Ace or Indy trucks. I remove the bottom washers and will replace my bushings and pivot cups from time to time. Working on new videos for you all. Many new awesome ideas. Thanks for your time and feedback. 💙🛹💙

Back in the day we called a pivot-to-fake a "mayday". I'm trying to relearn them now.

@@SkateparkLessons thanks I'll be working on them tonight! I think the name "mayday" came from the fact that they were scary as hell on vert in the 80s. I dont remember who did them first (probably Hawk) but they were mind blowing at the time.

Lots of sick combos and tricks man. Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question though.. you kept saying to put your heel on the deck. Doesn’t that create a bad habit if you want to grind the 5-0? Why do you feel it’s better than not touching the deck?
@SkateparkLessons3 жыл бұрын
Not heel on the deck, keep the arch of your foot over the coping so you feel the coping and your weight is over the coping. Imagine if it was just a round rail flat bar that you grind. No deck so you need to lock in over the top of the rail and create that pinch to hold you on the rail... Please help me Share this channel with your friends online so I can keep it alive and growing. Thanks 💙🛹💙
@XSProgression3 жыл бұрын
@@SkateparkLessons you mean like have the arch of your foot where the coping is under your board? Or actually touching the coping with your shoe? In the vid, your shoe touching the deck with your heel so I’m really trying to understand cause I’ve always been under the impression that it’s better to always be fully on the board without any toe or heel touch

I have the issue with over shooting the back heel wheel pinch and tend to shimmy the back foot to snug up that back heel wheel into pinch on 50-50s. Most time I'm not even pumping, thoughts on how to better this as BS 5-0s usually end in some weird deck top manual?
@jamest40163 жыл бұрын
I tend to do this too. I think it’s too much speed coming in so your momentum carries you over the top. JB’s pumping tip is what I’m going to work on -come up slower and use a pump to just get on the coping. Also trying to keep my head in the ramp more. Hope that helps.

Exactly what James said. 💙👏🏽💙

I have the same issue with hopping the coping but only when I'm on the larger 5ft wall, that said I am not really consistent with heel pinching my wheels on the 3ft. JBs tutorials have given insight to all of these issues, with the not pumping the wall down but kinda jumping into the Axel stall and the episode on 50/50s.. I'm still not getting it all the way yet but at least it's professional insight to common issues. Typically I have people scratching their chins and offering tidbits of ideas. These skateboarding instructions are unparalleled on KZbin. He kinda reminds me of a music teacher for skateboarding.
