Melon was my go to grab in my late teens in the 2000s.. I always thought they looked so steezy especially tweaking them like a backside shifty. I would always melon a gaps or stairsets before trying any flip tricks. Also got good at kickflip melons which always look hella sick.

Typically I’ll go faster and get more air for more time to grab then tweak into landing. I would practice into knee slides first. And thank you Tom! I appreciate that 💙🛹💙

Would like to see you go deeper into the explanation of whats the difference between liens and nose grabs. Also the part on indys "they can only be done bs" was really confusing. Also its not clear in the vid whats the difference between fs grabs and indy / bs grab and melon. Instead of the cannonball i would have put stalefishes, since this is the one missing to complete all 4 hand positions.

Liens are typically frontside, video games made Indy Grabs confusing, Indy is for backside and frontside is for frontside. It’s that simple. Backside grab is grabbing backside but melon you extend your legs out forward. Very different when you learn them. Stale fish is a more advanced grab for another video. I didn’t forget it. 💙🛹💙

So bases on that assumed, a shoot out grab with no rotation can never be called an indy right? Always called a frontside grab? Same goes for melon then? Really hate these logic, since they are really confusing to people.Imho tricks should be called by the type of grab, not because of rotation. For that term there is frontside and backside. But i guess i have to accept that this will never change...

In bowls, grabs Have to take into account the direction you are carving as this makes a big difference. Frontside is a frontside air, backside is an Indy. 💙🛹💙

Mute grabs are not called mute anymore they were named after a deaf guy named Chris Weddle and he is not mute so its renamed the weddle grab you should edit your video.

That’s awesome 😎, I’m from when it was called a mute but many tricks have been renamed but it’s seems people will forever call them what video games named them. I grew up playing the original Pro Skater game and it was a mute in that game as well as snowboarding games. They tried to rename backside smith grinds as well since it’s technically not invented by smith. Once the new games rename the tricks then it should help fix the confusion. 🛹
