One of our favorite OG 90s skaters, Mr. Jeron Wilson lays out why "this" monumentally influential skater is his favorite. Thanks Dubbs!

Switch 360 flip to switch nosegrind down a handrail. HANDRAIL. You could make a case that his trick is the most difficult trick ever thrown down on a rail.
@ao13094 жыл бұрын
Guy has just always been the best. We're just lucky we get to see it as much as we do, he'd get all those same tricks just for his own challenge and gratification even if there wasn't a filmer there!

Fuck yeah. That blew everyones mind when pretty sweet came out. Still mind blowing today.

I don't know the name of the skater or trick for sure but they did a nollie hurricane? It was crazy af compared to this

@@ottomattix86 maybe you mean yuto in the first april video (nollie 180 sw feeble)? I think sw tre nosegrind is harder tho
@ianturnbow70114 жыл бұрын
And the trick was supposed to be a switch 3 flip to front noseblunt. Guy ended up getting closer with nosegrinds

I remember an article in Skateboarder Magazine back in like early '01 that was about 30 top pro's choices of their favorite skaters. Half of them chose Guy. This was right after when he dissapeared off the scene, too. Way before he came back with his Lakai part he still got his propers. Mad respect.

Video Days was such an emotional game changer that it was actually the friends section of Virtual Reality that I loved the most. And who starts that one. Boom! Love from Finland!
@1439of20004 жыл бұрын
I think thats the section that Guy Mariano did a bs noseslide nollie flip down a handrail in 1992 or 93. Im thankful for being a kid then and waiting for videos and magazines in the mail.

@@1439of2000 Just imagine the feeling when you had to go to a bank to change Finnish marks to dollars, then sent the money in a tiny envelope to San Francisco - believing that nothing will ever follow. Then, some months later, the first brown envelope is waiting on the doorstep when you get home from school. Yeah, it was a Thrasher but after that I also subscribed Transworld. Pretty sweet days. Stay safe and take care!
@jukkaollikainen4 жыл бұрын
@@1439of2000 And yeah, I think that trick was there - it was a bit sketchy, maybe, but absolutely insane. I always felt sad that his part only had a couple of tricks but all of them were the next level.

@@booski1865 that era from yeah right to pretty sweet was probably the most authentic years of skating for me. No instagram clout and no die hard supreme groupies which kinda ruins skating imo.

@@tom-ot8kg I started around the time of Mouse, so that OG team was always special to me. And it was a different time when you had to wait for videos/clips and then when it finally released you'd watch it a thousand times.
@tom-ot8kg4 жыл бұрын
@@booski1865 you're an OG much respect. You seen skating go through many phases. I started in 2004 and it blows my mind how much has changed. I remember bootlegging fully flared. And although I enjoy the era that we're in some of today's skate media can be cringey with it being a popularity contest now that I'm an adult. Those girl squads really mastered showing the art of skating and progression rather than a trendy aesthetic.

Guy is such a good skateboarder that saying he's your favorite skateboarder doesn't really say anything about your personality like its a very generic answer. If you say Guy or Gino or Mark Gonzales I haven't learned anything about you or your influences because everyone is influenced by them. For example Suciu saying that Dennis Busenitz is his favorite says a lot about Mark Suciu and its a far more interesting answer.
@dumb_as_rocks4 жыл бұрын
i dont think you understand how influential he was for people who went on to become pro skaters as well
@ccollins1254 жыл бұрын
I think the point is to give props to their favorite. Rather than this saying nothing in particular about Jeron, the fact that so many choose him, and Gonz for that matter... says everything about guy. At least until we start talking shove it body varials.
@Quesly14 жыл бұрын
@@dumb_as_rocks I do understand, I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say. what I'm saying is that saying Guy is so influential that it doesn't say anything about you if Guy is your favorite skater, he's everyone's favorite skater. It's like a basketball player saying Michael Jordan is their favorite player.
@rootsmcduck43394 жыл бұрын
yeah, mainly his generation
@Quesly14 жыл бұрын
@Frank Martinez No, that is not what I said at all. maybe try reading a little closer next time and using some of those reading comprehension skills you should have picked up in middle school. I'm saying that Guy Mariano is one of the guys that everyone is influenced by. My comment was meant as a compliment to Guy. And you're in for a bad time if you think there aren't hipsters in skateboarding. especially with your gatekeeping ass attitude.
