Skater XL is sorta fun again

It has been actual MONTHS since I've touched Skater XL, so I wanted to step back in and see if I've been missing anything. I haven't. Sure, I'm a little salty that the game never got the updates that myself and the community wanted to see, but that being said, after some time away from the game, it is still a fun pick up and play skateboarding game. I still wouldn't consider it a skateboarding simulator like Session is, but it is a fun game nonetheless. What are your guys' thoughts on Skater XL lately?

Spacing out your time playing these games is huge. I got so burnt out and sick of Session that i stopped playing it for months. Taking time away enough to stop taking the game so seriously helped so much I'd be down for a "Skater XL Mod Setup" video

Lots of things have been added with some of the mods such as fros mod, boned Ollie mod, etc. if you ever need help getting stuff back to feeling nice never hesitate! Great vid glad to see some posts on the live channel

yeh same here. couldn't get into session at first because i was so used to XL. But once i got the hang of it, i never went back to XL.

I don't play either anymore, xl feels dated and session is still too clunky looking and not a fan of how the animations are. I'm just waiting for skate.

@@zenswxrld yeah i feel ya. My only problem with skate is while the animations look great it looks like its going to be floaty and not very realistic. I really want session to put more time into its animations and add multiplayer. Plus sort out the issues with vert and add grabs.

It’s hard to break from these games cause the stick controls are kinda hard to remember if you play other games but going back and forth is a challenge for me at least cause I forget the controls and what not sometimes

Vanilla game I'd say session for the stats slider to make it look nicer but the game itself looks a lil clunky but with mods skater xl since you can download a stance and stats slider to change everything since xl looks a bit nicer

Everytime I take a break from session when I come back I get so hooked and film lines for hours, not so much on xl but that’s just cause on console it’s just not very good lol

Coming from a skaterxl day one player and then a session full release day one player, session is the better sim. Everyone has their own opinion and they are both great games but session is the more “realistic” skate sim. Playing skater xl on console it’s too floaty and like you said Arcady. Session is more advanced and something to learn and know the way of skating to get. I have a special place for skaterxl because when it came out it was great but anyone hating on session, LEARN it you’ll love it I promise.

Please help!! How can I 50-50 a kink rail? Everytime I try to 50-50 a kink rail the grind always turns into a 5-0/nosegrind. I don't know how to lock a 50-50 throughout the whole rail.

Graphics on xl suck, the curbs have the sharpest edges and corner in that game and the lighting is so off, color choice yeah I could go on and on but session looks beautiful compared to this

I havent played the game since may 2021 The fact that since then there have been only 6 updates to the game, 2 of which were hot fixes is sad. They lost me when all they started to care about was sponsoring events, they had that whole issue with threatening legal action against some modders and just the general lack of communication and care about the game. This game only is alive because of modding, and has been since the beginning. I put so much time into this game, making maps, making cloths, boards, wheels etc Its an okay game but just how the studio has handled it, has turned me off of it and I just cant enjoy it anymore.
