My lord. Back in the 80s I used rails, 60mm wheels and a wider deck, then the 90s came, no rails 7.5 inch deck 42 mm wheels, now the 80s are coming back to haunt me again! haha. Its just weird all the kids asking, Should I use rails? When to me it was very common!

You never want to screw one side of the rail in and then the other end. It will cause the rails to bow and have gaps in the middle. Always go in order, one screw next to the other.

Did you edit the part out where you had to bore out the holes in the rails, just so the screws can fit in them? Those screws definitely don't screw in that easy unless my board is made of some other material, I had to use a hammer to set it in even further because the screws would not bite into the board any further once it reached the top of the hole.

I have some 80s and 90s boards before they made popsicles. I have one original vision double deck. But I'm 44yr oldfart now and barely ride fighting fibromyalgia Crap and other issues. But at least my kids will get my collection. I think rails are good and specially u guys get drill all way threw screws and nuts kind hardware . Of course those wood screws will snap off down road

Try adding more pressure/weight when you are installing. An old trick is to use a wood clap to tightly secure the rail to your board before you begin screwing. Good luck!

If tou make a pilot hole with a really tiny drill bit, you can screw them in really securely by hand with just a screwdriver. The process is a bit time consuming but worth it.

Start from the middle when you're screwing them in. Also, use double sided tapefirst ehen you place the rails. Then screw them in. They wont ever rattle loose if you do that.

I had to reset my rails because I had them set too close against the edge, and the image still got slightly scuffed. Now I got an ugly set of extra holes in my board...does this compromise the integrity though???

I still have sets of rails from the 80s and of course they only have 4 screw holes! I got schmidt sticks, ugly sticks from Powell, some Sims, and some ODI saber tooth tiger tails and they all have only 4 holes each so Im assuming there is definitely no need to have 5 when its a bitch to torque them properly so they stick well and don't strip the wood. I honestly do believe that 5 holes would weaken the board some what. And rat nuts were ridiculous always rattling loose and falling off. Same with tail bones . Shooting sparks out the tail hauling ass down the road at night was a hella blast though back in the day!

Pig skate rails are unfortunately known for having low quality hardware. I’ve had screws break/snap on me while trying to install. Bones / Santa Cruz are my go to for skate rails! My roommate uses enjoi skate rails and they seem to hold up well!

From experience it's like the perfect medium, if you have two rails you'll be slipping out for a while before you get used to the extra slickness. If you're skeptical though, just leave the other in your car or bring that and a screw driver with you.

I just got mine and somehow I got the first on but the others won’t work. It feels like I am infinitely trying to screw it on the there and the screws just don’t stick. I have a Powell-Peralta flight deck if that helps.

Yanis Vb Use a drill with a very small drill bit (much smaller than the screw diameter) to make holes. Don’t drill thru the board. You can position the rail and use a marker to mark the holes you want to drill. Mark the drill bit with tape so you do n’t go so deep. If for some reason the screws are slipping use some wood glue.

anthropologyable They may add a little extra strength. it will at least prevent your board from coming apart when it does break, but it's definitely not gonna stop it from breaking under harsh impact. Guys here that break a lot of boards swear by the impact and P2 decks.

+push skating forward It it quite a bit more slick, but the advantage of using only one is you can kind of control it by putting more/less weight on the edge of your board where the rail is. Kind of like a gas pedal for sticky coping/ledges/rails hahah

@@SkateWarehouse they seem to help if you yank out alot on rails other than that I just dont have a use for them
