Thank you for this!! I haven't been able to afford the snow white skates or similar so it's great to see these things are possible in normal skates as well - even if it's harder. You break down the steps so well!

Of cause, to skate figure elements on snow white frame is more easy and similar to ice skateing. But you can do a lot of beautiful nice movements on normal inline skates too. Keep skating!

Everything that can be done on ice can be done on roller skates plus more! They have freestyle or figure skating on both ice and roller. They also do dance skating on both ice and roller and roller has just as many competitions or more as ice does on the local, regional, national, and World competition level. Watch videos on KZbin of high level roller competitions

Hi^^ I'm so impressed that you can land the waltz jump with these skates! I'm a beginner in artistic inline skating, and since i don't have proper figure skates yet the teacher told me from the start i wouldn't be able to land it. So seeing this really gave me hope^^ also may i ask you for some advice? reading the comment section this is the first time i hear of rockering so I researched it a bit. Do you think it would help me a little in learning until I can afford figure skates? If so, what kind of configuration should I use? I'm sorry about asking, I'm just really new to all this haha. The video is really helpful so thanks a lot for making it!^^
@irollcool4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Lilya! It´s difficult to land after waltz jump. In artistic figure skating you land a mili-second on toe-stop, in figure skating on toe-pic; and then you go on the edge. On inline skates without rockering you can´t land on the first wheel, also it´s not very easy to land on all 4 wheels after waltz jump. With rockering you land on 1+2 wheels and then go to the 2+3+4 wheels. Withour rockering it´s impossible to do elements from figure skating, rockering gives you a feeling of edge and the possibility to do more complicated small movements (that's why in slalom we use rockering). If you have 80 wheels and the frame for this size of wheels - you can put 76-80-80-76, if you have 76 wheels - use 72-76-76-72. Of course, on inline skates you can't do all elements from artistic skating but with rockering you can do some of them and the feeling is similar.

I have been self teaching myself rollerblading without the artistic rollerblades, and it is possible! It might be a little harder, but probably better because when you actually get the proper skates, it will be easier.

@@irollcool how do you rocker the wheels?
@irollcool4 жыл бұрын
@@atthecrosshealing I have 231 mm frame (38 foot size) and my rockering is 72-76-76-72. You can use 76-80-80-76 if your frame is bigger. It's a standart rockering for slalom skating.
@endrehalasz2 жыл бұрын
You can also increase stability by using longer frames.
@UlfWolf_Skater4 жыл бұрын
I’m really impressed by your artistic figures.👌 I already changes the setup to 76-80-80-76, which gives really a similar behaviour like skating on ice. Loves to learn these moves , but still working on more stability skating on one leg. I will then study your video for the transitions. Thanks for this video!👏
@irollcool4 жыл бұрын
76-80-80-76 will help, sure. Skating in one leg fluently (forward, backward) is a must if you want to learn different movements and elements.

Great video! I was looking exactly for this. I learned 3-turns and was progressing the waltz jump on ice. Then I have tried with wheeled slalom skates and it feels much more difficult. On ice I can do it without lifting the skate from the ice, but on wheels seems that a tiny jump is needed.
@irollcool4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's more difficult than on ice but it's possible. Even not a tiny jump but a millisecond turn on the first wheel.

This looked really cool! But I worry that landing on a flat foot might cause damage to your knees or foot. Esp since in figure skating the toe pick absorbs the landing pressure
@irollcool3 жыл бұрын
The landing pressure of1/2 jump is not so high. When you land on inline skates, the energy of landing goes immediately into sliding. In the agressive skating also where people jump even more. In general, skating is better for knees than running)))

Is rockering really important? I would like to perform this with flat setup... but I guess it's not doable.
@irollcool4 жыл бұрын
I do it also in my freeride skates without rockering but not so smoothy, and also more difficult for me. When you have rockering you control edges, so you can skate LFO edge (left forward outside), exit with RBO (right backward outside) and it will have nice smoothy "three" form \__-^-__/ Without rockering you start with left forward straight line, finish with right backwards straight line and in the moment of turning on left foot it will look more like small jump ----- * ----- But it could be your own style!

The waltz jumps were fairly decent once you got around to doing them the right way. Your three turns though were cheated. Stop jumping your three turns. They should be very smooth and appear completely effortless and practically unnoticeable. Another fun one foot turn is called a rocker going from a left outer forward edge turning counterclockwise to a left outer backward edge. That turn is what makes the rocker foxtrot so much fun. One of my favorite dances. My other favorites are Continental waltz, Vietnamese waltz, Carol Swing, Dench Blues, and the Quick Step. 😁 The definitions from the skating encyclopedia: Rocker - A 1 foot turn from a forward edge to a similar backward edge or vice versa with the rotation continuous with the initial edge and with the cusp inside the original circle. Counter definition: Counter - A 1-foot turn without a change of edge with the rotation counter to the direction of the initial edge. Sorry if too much information. If not, I can always look up the definition for a three-turn if you want. 😁

Hi! Do you skate ice skating, inline figure skating or quads figure skating? I know how smoothy three turn shoud be)) when I skate on ice or on special inline figure skates. In this video I'm doing three turn on "normal" skates (if you put some atention) that are not made for beautiful decent figure skating elements. But even on them people can practice some figure elements just for fun. I also like rocker. Good luck! And show us you unnoticeable three turn on fitness skates.

@@irollcool I competed mostly in compulsory dance for about 6 years and also skated part of the time in roller figure skating and compulsory figures. All on quad skates. That's what everyone was using in competitions all over the country within the main organizations that govern that sport back in the '70s. Mainly the R. S. R. O. A. and U. S. F. A. R. S. I got to compete in local, regional, and National competitions. I also got to compete in big production show number similar to the ice capades. Those were good times. I love roller skating and wish that the sport had gotten the recognition and publicity that it deserved. Do the life circumstances I have not skated since the eighties.
