I like the rounder nose/tail personally. I've also never been that heavy on flip tricks, so having a more solid and predictable base for ollie's is a huge help for my skating. And absolutely loved this upload! Seeing and hearing about the process of getting your shape down is awesome. 🙏🙌

Your board specs are getting closer to my perfect setup too. I love the Twin McCoy shape but my only scratch with it is that is 14.22" WB which I kinda hate because I love Thunders trucks. But I hate to skate them in anything longer than 14" WB. So, I use Independent or Ace trucks now. If you decide to just round a little more the nose and tail that would be my migration point for use your board shape forever and go back to thunders hehe.

Dude you casually just destroy ledges. You're so consistent. I have nollie 5-0s, nollie nosegrinds and nollie crooks super consistent but once you start getting in to the harder tricks you still just rifling them off, nollie heel crook so easy and nollie heel fs nose to have that easy is crazy haha. Keep killing it dude

Been waiting for this update! Looks like a pretty solid twin shape. Personally would like a slightly rounder (less taper) for the nose and tail; especially being an 8.25 guy. And you’re not crazy… .05” is very noticeable on a board. Looking forward for the final shape and ordering a few

Now thats a well size board imo.. a solid 14" wheelbase seems a good fit for Thunders specialy coz them hangers are spread apart to each other

Regard to your deck specs, it seems it is a hybrid of Fabian’s and Mario’s decks. Fabian’s has the 31.6 inch length and 14 inch wheel base. Mario’s is symmetrical with both nose/tail being 6.71 inch. If you are not satisfied with the pointyness of this deck, maybe Mario’s nose/tail shape would suffice. Regardless, I look forward to buying your new shape as I usually ride Mario’s decks for the twin tip but want a smaller wheel base like Fabian’s which I’ve skated in the past as well. Hoping your new shape is VX too.
@tomasta
@tomasta 29 күн бұрын
it kinda is a hybrid! yea I def want the smaller wheelbase that’s a def.. I think I like where this board is at now. seems like it’s in a good spot, had it next to my taper tip when I got home and it’s def more round then the taper tip.. thanks for watching !

i bet an 8.2 deck on a cool night in arizona is 8.25 on a hot humid day in the northeast. 0.05" on a wooden product is nothing. I bet the overall tapered shape is what is making it feel better. either way, the skating was buttery on that setup so fuck it 🤣🤘

Really nice tricks!! The pointy nose and tail are like the Wooten shape kind of? I skated a few of his board(8.5) and after a few session i get used for the pointy. For sure i would like a 8.5 shape but à lot of people would get a 8.2. I little bit rounder would please more people i think but is your shape so get the best for you!!! Keep your amazing technical poppy style!!!

i like how this shape looks. 8.25 has become a sweet spot for me as i’m shorter and with a smaller foot. 14 wheelbase is starting to feel a little long, but i got used to the 13.88 wb on the true fit deck from deluxe. i’ll definitely try one once you release them though. i like the smaller and pointier nose, but not as pointy as your old shape (or as narrow).

Tom you are on point with these set up videos I literally love twin tails and twin noses so much I actaully can’t even skate normal Boards now I only want like a few brand that have symmetrical designs. I really think you guys should be the first company to offer a twin nose shape AND a twin tail shape! I’ve been following you for so long and love your skating but I know personally I prefer twin nose BUT I know just as many people who would rather have a twin tail and it’s so hard to even find a twin shape the likely hood of you finding a twin shape that you want is 2x as difficult because now you gotta search between twin nose and twin tail AND some random brand you’ve prob never skated. If you and Santa Cruz made your next shape 2 shapes a twin nose and a twin tail you would be the first company and skater I am aware of to offer both a twin nose and a twin tail with the same shape and the same wood ! So important because the wood and the shape being Santa Cruz decks are garynteed to last plus the option of a twin nose or a twin tail will definitely make Santa Cruz the only boards I’d have to get it would make life so much simpler. PLUS so many companies are doing twin shapes now like real creature primitive chocolate I’m sure there’s others but if y’all release BOTH AT THE SAME TIME that would be a first and definitely switch a lot of people over. Lol btw been watching your skating since the fallen days one of my faves ever 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 thanks for all the dope content man always hyped when you drop a video

8.2 might not seem that much smaller than a 8.25 but honestly it's probably 8.1875 or 8 3/16 rounded up for simplicity. It's still only a 16th of an inch smaller but that's plenty enough to make a difference. You have the privilege of Santa Cruz making whatever you want so you might as well keep tweaking it till you're completely satisfied.

Fuller nose vs tapered (take a peep at McCoys 8.25) but you're the pro, you do you ;) I rode your prior 8.2 (too long for me as well) and ended up not liking the kick shape; switched to the mccoy/asp shape - SC-365 (NHS shape code) those kicks, just a hair shorter board and 14" wb would be really nice. 100% destroyed that ledge. So good.

yea maurio shape isnt bad at all! dont like that wheelbase though...but im feelin my shape so far, i know it might be still too pointy for some people but thats what im into personally so for me its a good balance between the taper tip and a more traditional board the the fabi or maurio decks !

Please let me know if you can compare yours with his or get info from Santa Cruz to check that, I'll be first in line to buy it if it's a bit mellower. Yo Tom! Which of the Ace bushings did you go with? (Standard vs Low cut) / (regular Stock vs Hard) Sorry if you have already answered this somewhere else. Just curious which fit best for the thunders. I rocked the Ace Hard Low bushings in the Indy Mids and they worked like a charm. Switching back to Thunders and might try the new inverted kingpin model. Curious to see what’s working for ya!

That looks like a really good board, just need to fill out the nose and tail some

Are you making that shape for the vx everslick??? I've been loving that board but the tapper tip was just a bit too tapered, so I think that shape would be perfect!

Hey Tom.. The shape looks solid but I would like to see it with a more "rounded" nose rather than pointy. And I would stock up on bunch of these for me to ride
