I got an electric racquet from Aldi for $4.99. It’s satisfying to use and about as much fun as you could ask for on a Saturday night. I ❤️ it.

I have an SV 3100 model of Skeetervac. These things do work but cost a premium. Mine was $399.99 and worked decently for about 4 seasons. Now it will not stay lit which is a common problem. They burn through a propane tank every 3 weeks and if you have a lot of flies be prepared to change the tac trap with every tank. You're looking at a cost of $300 or so a season to operate/replace the unit every 4 years while reducing about 70% of biting insects. You have to decide if thats worth it.

Steve, did you ever find a way to keep it lit. Mine is two years old and it wont stay lit. I keep lighting it and it stays lit for about 20 seconds then shuts off.

@@saidsode2129 Sounds like something with a safety possibly. Maybe something like it's pilot is dirty... Have you tried using a compressor and blowing it out to see if that helps?

This does work. I stop using it because of the propane and bait cost but it does catch those tiger Asian mosquitoes. I gave it away and now being on a 5 acre for 2 years, I just ordered a new one and running it. For all those times that I did own it, I had no issues. The first purchase was from Northline Express. This new one is also from Northline Express, the delivery is always fast. Thanks.

One thing he didn't mention is the flashing lights. There are LED lights inside the unit. In the top where mosquitos are drawn in by the suction are a series of red, yellow, green and violet LED lights. That's another cue for the bugs. Unless the model he has doesn't have the lights? Mine is about five years old (and still working well).

The square lure is about $25 & can last up to 60days. The sticky trap around the unit is about $15. Instruction manual say it’ll use a standard 20# LP tank in 14 to 16 days. In my area it’s about $20 for a full tank ( with trade of course). This model was given to me without a tank. I guess the guy thought it was to expensive to operate 🤷🏽‍♂️

$300 is crazy expensive for a trap. Home Depot should knock this off, mass produce it, and sell it for 1/6th the price.

You had two LP tanks plumbed to your unit Ron. You didn't mention this to us.

This and the other unit have only one tank connection. The top with the sticky tape is the unit/machine.

Best propane driven trap I've seen thus far! What's up with those bulky beasts? We can see clearly here that you just need the trapping module! Well, I will go for DIY solutions anyways, as I'm a DIY kind of guy. Not with propane though... And at my families summer house we mostly have swarms of micro-midges anyways. And there is now a simple solution for them: just have a mostly extinguished coal grill (producing some heat and CO2), and just coat the grill with oil so they stick to it. This was in the papers in Sweden recently. So you mostly just need some old cooking oil.

Ours works pretty good except something is wrong with that control button or whatever it is, it will light up but won't stay lit unless that button is pressed down all the time, we improvised with an old chair and some bricks stacked on to hold it.. It takes a few weeks to Reach its potential but once it does it's amazing how much the difference is.

Propane tank in front of your house, in the sun, it doesn't have a good ring to it, however chasing mosquitoes with propane feels like overkill to begin with.
@Will-tm5bj
@Will-tm5bj 7 жыл бұрын
Crow propane tanks are designed to sit outside in the sun.. as long as it's in good shape, and if it's from a refill exchange those get inspected enough for this to be a non issue. as far as overkill.. they're mosquitos... whatever the hell it takes, short of killing everything else in the yard it's all good. This thing looks to have killed a bunch of flies to, I see no issue whatsoever and will be buying one of these bad boys soon

This may be good out in your yard, but is very expensive to buy and maintain. I have a Bug Ring (inexpensive to buy and almost $0.00 to maintain. And works on the porch where I and my pets are sitting. No chemicals are used and caught much more mosquitoes than this product. Also when you kill mosquitoes on your porch (where you are) you are killing the mosquitoes that will not now breed. You are the attractant for the mosquitoes. Check out their video at Bug Ring.net. The cost is much less and works better.
