This video made me feel so less guilty about my languishing wips. I figure if a proficient and talented designer knitter like yourself can get stuck for the same little reasons that I do than Im okay!

Oh I love the Knox sweater that I knitted it 3 times. Don’t worry about it looking smaller it relaxes after you finish it and it is actually why I had to knitted the second time. The first one relaxed to my husband size 😅… so I knitted with smallest size for me. My son saw it and loved it so I knitted a 3ed time. It is gorgeous on… please reconsider

I stopped counting my wips when I got close to 200 projects. Most still on the needles. Yeouch! I started taking them out of my project bags and put each project in a clear bag so I can see exactly what I have going on. Otherwise, out of sight, out of mind. Glad to know I am not the only one with Start-itis.

I've got your back! I can't really say how many projects I have stashed away, but I have at least 8 sweaters that all need sleeves. Yokes have all the fun and engagement, bodies are easy to knit when attention isn't required, and sleeves are super boring needing a certain amount of attention counting rows to work decreases. I'm just going to have to put on my big girl panties and get back to knitting sleeves and stop whining about them 😁. Thanks for listening!

Love the video. I have a ton, yes obscene, of WIPs. I don’t care. Haha. I work the project that I feel like working on. I think some things get set aside for whatever reason and then I forget about them. Doing a bit of a recap once in a while is a good thing. Knit on, Ellie. I love those green and mustard colours so much. 🎉

I have 40 unfinished projects in my ravelry page. To be fair on myself, about 10 of those are things I have dreamed up and still working on just the idea of them. 4 of them I will be finishing this month because they are gifts or for a craft fair I'm attending. The rest are pieces I have frogged and need to be reknit or I have the yarn for them so created a project pages for them with the yarn pictured. That might seem like a lot of excuses but its how my brain works, reasoning out this process. Thank you for sharing with us!

It is interesting to read your organisation system. Tx for that. I've only recently started uploading my stash and projects to Ravelry, and I find myself doing the same thing. I feel like the Ravelry system lacks a category where you can group a yarn, a pattern, and some notes into future ideas/conceived projects. So on Ravelry it seems like a have loads of wips, while in fact, I -technically- only have 2 in progress at the moment. (Not bragging about that: that's just because I re-organised and digitized my stash last Summer, and gave up on decade old wips that weren't going anywhere).

Lovely to see your projects! Made me remember a few patterns I have on my wishlist so I might plan something for 2023 (or whenever). I have at least 8 different crafts I do. The counts on my most usual crafts are: knitting 14, cross stitch 21, sewing 5 and spinning 3, so 43 total + random other craft projects 😂

Solidarity on Sleeve Island! I was going along at such a good clip on my current sweater until I hit the sleeves. Now it’s a trudge. And you motivated me to inventory my WIPs - it’s all in twos for some reason at the moment - two sweaters, two pairs of socks, two cowls, two scarves, two ornaments, two blankets. What gets done gets done when it gets done. Can’t ask more from our knitting than that, and I’m sure it’s far harder for you as you have design work on top of personal knitting. And it’s so lovely to have all those projects at the ready for whenever you feel like getting back to them. Loved seeing the wide range of designs and yarns you’re knitting on/with.

WOW!! What a refreshing find!! You are open and honest about what you have completed and the loads of stitches that still need to find a home in several projects. Great walking through your projects with you. ❤

Thanks for sharing!

Well you came up in my feed and I am so glad you did! You are an amazing knitter! And I have some of your patterns. Thanks for sharing yourWIPS . I love that gold yellow color so much! It’s always good to see other people’s wips,And what they decide to do with them. Last year the first time ever that I actually frogged anything. I used to just let it sit in the bag. Maybe I thought it would magically finish itself? But when you get honest and you know you don’t like it already and you’re never gonna wear it why spend all that time on it? So it’s good to see even advance knitters do the same. Thank you for sharing

Who knows what will happen next. Happy knitting on all of your projects, they all do look beautiful though, Petra

love to see an update on what you have for WIPs !! i managed to pick up a blanket i was crocheting that i started something like 4 years ago? by now my tastes have changed so much that i had no interest in having it at all but even less interest in tossing it (wouldve been no hope to salvage the yarn it was all granny hexagons so there was just a bunch of short sections of yarn) BUT luckily my mom loved it so it became a nice little gift :)

Hej Elli, I‘m happy that I‘m not doing that. It would completely overwhelm me. I‘ve been knitting for 40 years and have been sticking to the one-project-at the time „rule“. At least regarding garments. Sometimes I have a sock or a hat going beside. I also don’t have a stash. I decide what I want to knit, then by the yarn and knit it. I love to see you excitement when you talk about your wips. I think you will finish them eventually ❤
@christinehicks78682 жыл бұрын
I use the “needle plus one rule” I have a project that I am currently working on and I use that time to decide what I want to make next and I can buy the yarn for that project. I do have a minor exception. The washcloths that I work on in the car. Good brainless item when I arrive early somewhere.

I love this video. As you said, it's just knitting and if the projects bring us joy, wonderful. haha! I just like having something different to work on when I get restless of one project, but I do need to learn (as you and others seem to do) to put things down for awhile in time out when they're bugging me. Thank you! Hope you had lots of fun with your friends. All the best, Kimberly

Most of my wips are socks (5). I also have two sweaters to finish. There are two crocheted blankets as well. One needs the ends woven in and the second one I am currently working on for a gift. Good luck with your wips?!?

You have an impressive number of wips! I only have 2 wips that I'm working on alternately. Both are cardigans. I separated for the sleeves on my first project and got bored working plain stockinette back and forth so I cast on the second cardigan. This is my limit, because I do want to wear them both before Christmas this year 😂😂

I will have to count , love looking at your wips. I have two socks one patterned that needs concentration, one plain. A cardigan in hot pink, Westknits MKAL 2022, Haven shawl my easy knitting bus knitting. VIVA COWL, AT COMPLEX FINISHING stage. Starting the rib for the Dolly cardigan. Started a contiguous Cardy I am designing. A blanket 1980s black mohair. A cocoon cardie which I don't love but will turn into a hap or lap blanket. 12 if that's all. I have finished La Vie en Rose and embers cardigan this year and three cowls and a pair of socks.

I just wanted to say that I absolutely understand the struggle of having old WIPs in a size you no longer are. I am struggling with the same thing right now, what to do with WIPs I love that are not my current size and also SQs I bought for specific patterns but in yardage for a smaller size than what I would currently need. In my brain those yarns HAVE to be those patterns, even though logically I know they don't actually.

I usually work on only one project & finish it. I have no problems about ripping out a project that I'm not happy with. I'd rather use the wool for something new than have an unfinished garment lying around. I also wouldn't like having so many needles & wool tied up going nowhere if I had multiple projects.... However, we are all different so do what makes you happy.

Sometimes the simplest stitch pattern are the hardest to do,I think it’s that you zone out whilst knitting it and it’s easy to not realise the mistakes until way to late it’s a frustration and puts you off because your brain goes into vanilla knit mode when it shouldn’t
