The lamp turned out amazing and it honestly makes me want to make something similar but just a decorative display piece for myself.
@jaznz5311 ай бұрын
Cut a bigger piece for the base. Continue adding to the base and slip the new cardboard base against the first one. Cut out a hole to match the first and then you have more room foe add one around the base. To make the top of the mushroom stay upright more find a bent knitting needle put a small hole in your plastic container over the lamp and push the needle thru to support the mushy cap. Hope that helps. BTW i yhink your lamp is amazing. Well done.

I love it! You shouldn't worry about the project in the middle stages. Trust the process, as they say! You should just add some string lights and a funky colored light to the top of the big mushroom.
@shirleycarter245111 ай бұрын
Think it's great to swop and change ideas 💡 as you go along, you've loads of magical creatures that could live inside the mushroom 🍄 🤔😉🤩 Love the huge mushroom, you could get string tiny lights and arrange amongst the other little mushrooms, love your colour scheme also. Been looking at fairy furniture to make with friends little girl in the summer, so this really appealed to me ❤❤❤

If you want to reduce the floppiness and have more control over the shaping and positions of the mushroom caps, I would add some wire skeletons to those pieces! The project itself is beautiful.

CUTE!! It's funny, before you said anything about the fairy idea, I was going to mention it. Although, I think it would be kind of interesting to make the tree stump one, as well and crochet vertically with larger stitches in a wood-ish grain pattern. Paint the center colander a brownish or green color and glue a black silhouette (or multiple?) to it. Maybe, instead of torn stuffing, wrap batting (like for sewing into quilts, I think) to give it some fullness. That way when the light was on it would, theoretically, glow the color of the cylinder (if it was green it would be green through the brown bark) with the illusion of a fairy (or multiple) being on the inside. If you crocheted some protruding branches, you could add leaves with a lady bug (with a saddle? Would that be weird??) and decorate with fairy lights to make it look like the fairies decorated their home... I have so many ideas, I can crochet but I have a really really hard time sticking with anything for any length of time... So, I'll just keep sharing them in case someone else finds any inspiration from them.
@SkeinSpider11 ай бұрын
Feel free to keep sharing them lol, they're great ideas! I would really be interested to see if paint over the container would change the colour, that could lead to some interesting projects 🤔.

oh my goodness talk about trust the process that turned out incredible, and it suits the rest of the room so nicely! re: the fairy house aspects, you could maybe take a photo of the lamp in general and with the light on as well and just draw in the fairy house pieces on a photo editor or something to gauge if it's worth the effort? idk if it matters that much to you but I had the thought so I figured it couldn't hurt to say

I absolutely love this. Your creativity is so very inspiring with this and some of the other projects I’ve seen you make. It’s very exciting for me as someone who wants a simple project sometimes, but also likes to break out of the norm and make the unexpected… your projects embody that. Thank you for sharing your process and projects! I like that the mushrooms flop a little, as the real ones do that in my yard, so it’s not a bad thing.

Leigh, it's beautiful. But I am worried about how much heat is being created with no way to escape. It would depent on the bulb you use I guess. I'm also curious as to how well the lamp part will be to remove, with all that stuffing up against it. Yes to the fairy house. No to the vines.
@SkeinSpider11 ай бұрын
Thank you and the heat factor was a bit of a concern for me as well but I actully tested it out today and for the 20 or so minutes I had it on, it was fine. And that's all it's ever going to be, background decoration used sparingly. I definitely wouldn't use it as a main light source. And the lamp is super easy to remove, the entire crochet section literally just lifts off it.

@SkeinSpider11 ай бұрын
By comes off, I'm guessing you mean off the light?? If so, that bit still worked out the same, I can literally pick up the whole crochet piece and the light is just resting underneath.

You should put 4 spacers on the side of the lamp so that the lamp doesn’t get too close to the plat if part you put over top. Oh and I just wanted you to know that I don’t bloody like your videos, I BLOODY LOVE EM ! Keep up the fantastic work. Sending love 🥰🥰🥰 from the UK.

@SkeinSpider Hi, friend. Do you have any advice for using this fluffy yarn? I always end up breaking it, though I don't really crochet too tightly. Another problem I have is it always frays so easily. I love how plush and fluffy and soft it is, just hard to work with.
@the_homun_system11 ай бұрын
if its not an incandescent bulb its shouldnt produce much heat so you shouldnt have too much worry about fire. you either have to have really old bulbs or go out of your way to get incandescent. most bulbs these days are led but theres nothing wrong with making sure to not have the material directly on it

It's clearly some kind of container. You can see the clips that held the old lamp shade into the center of the lamp. My guess was it was glass originally.
