I've seen so much info from vets and techs saying not to do crocheted/knitted pet toys. They talked about instances of swallowing the yarn and fibers, and then the items were getting stuck in their bowels. So that's probably the only thing I could do without making on the list.
@vixwolf20375 ай бұрын
As a reminder for: any/every toy, bone or treat watch them as they are playing it so that they don't swallow it/parts of it (this goes for non-crocheted toys as well as this is where everyone goes wrong)

This is my favorite part about crocheting. I’m 22 and I’ve been doing it for 2 and a half years and used to work at Joann. It was so incredible meeting so many people who share the same hobby ranging from 10 to 100 years old. Especially because there’s kind of sub-categories within it. Some people make mostly blankets, or wearables, or decor, or accessories, or just fun trinkets. Personally I like wearables and accessories but I really want to get into decor for my home especially because it is so expensive to decorate

I really love the idea of making a few things from this list as a set. Like a home decor set with the bag saver, coasters, and nesting tray. Or maybe a “spa day” set with scrubbies, soap savers, and wash cloths.

When I have a lot of leftover yarn and odd skeins (I usually work with acrylic) I double it up and make scrap rugs. I mix different color yarns together and when one runs out I just add another color and keep going. I makes for an interesting rug and it washes well.

I’m 62 New at crocheting. I needed something I can do since due to chronic disability my ability to walk is declining. I started with finger knitting with chunky yarn. A friend introduced me to it. I made a throw for my mother I will take to her the next time I visit her. Then I found a granny square kit at the half price store. I’m still learning. My granny squares still aren’t the best but I’m getting better. Thanks to some of your tips they’re almost usable. I’m thinking about making a bag for the back of my wheelchair and maybe one for my mother too. This way I can put the handles on the side that would fit best instead of twisting a bag around. Anyway: Thank You for your tips and Ideas. Learning to crochet is helping me to feel like I have something of value to do. I ran into your channel through another channel. I can’t think of the name of it right now (Fibro fog sucks) She was doing 5 tips from the same book you did five tips from.

I literally just slipped the chair cover and armrest covers on my office/desk chair and the back cover on Hub's chair. Finished his cover this morning. The arm rest covers took just under a skein, while the back covers took several partial skeins I had lying around. So much more comfortable and they look cute! My arm rests were irritating me when I sat there to crochet or watch videos on the computer because my cats had messed up the vinyl. Now they are soft and look nicer, and no more irritation. I crochet over old stained and frayed cloth potholders to refresh them, recycle them, save $$ and make a thicker item. Easily one of the most useful things I can think of to make with my cotton scraps. When making pencil holders or a place for all my scissors, I use a well-cleaned plastic peanut butter jar to make my holder sturdier and not risk broken glass when it inevitably gets knocked over. Same idea works well for making a flower vase. It also saves something else from the trash. Loving suggestions on what to do with the rest of my scraps and single skeins. This is the time of year I do a lot of yarn crafts for gifts and cold weather gear, so having ideas to use up the extra (ALWAYS buying a bit more than I think I'll need for any specific project) is perfect right now. Thanks!

I want to make the garland, but that means adding to my stash because I don't have much green that would suffice for vines and leaves! I have a thing for collecting all the stuff I can find at my Goodwill Buy the Pound, and I hit the motherload yesterday with baby yarns, boutique yarns and even some Bernat blanket yarn (one skein of baby LOL). Now I have to figure out what to make with all the beautiful yarns. I even found some that was baby alpaca yarn! As for what I'd never make, that would be a cat toy or a cat hat. Haha, my cat would Cut you if you tried to put a hat on her. Unless a cat toy can be made so their nails won't catch, my old girls are super allergic to having nails trimmed, so there's that. I like to take the blankets that have long thin panels and turn them into scarves. There is a daisy chain strip blanket in the Leisure Arts books that is so pretty in darker colors. The spiderweb squares work perfect for a standard skinny scarf. It's all double and triple crochets, works up super quick. I'm making a chevron rainbow scarf, Red Heart Favorite Stripe, now from a different baby blanket that I may trim all the way around in black and have it look comic book art-ish.

So very many ideas! Love them! I have used about half of them in decorating my little she-den (like door vances that match my crocheted curtains) and for gifting in the winter (warm hats scarves, neck warmers and fingerless gloves). Not a fan of crocheted washrags or kitchen rags, but love the hair items. I will definitely be trying a couple of them this year. Thank you for the long list of USABLE stash busters!!!! The thing i use many of my single and partial skeins for, is to crochet them together with another color like white or grey and make pet rugs or throws. Good for gifting to shelters too!

You gave so many great ideas I'm not sure where to start. Not that it's a bad thing. I've been wanting to get in to crochet for craft booths. will need to try most all of them.

Hi Toni!! My first time here! Don't forget RAOCK for the small bits! I put them in the children's library!

Great ideas! I'd be careful with pet toys though. Like if you have a heavy chewer for a pet. And the small stuffed animals are a huge trend in Japan called Amigurumi and there are a TON of super cute patterns online!

Your videos are so very sweet and your smile is so very infectious even if I'm not in a peppy mood it always makes me feel good. The ideas are so amazing but I have way too many favorites to tell you.

I'm excited about this video. I'm going to Joann's later today so the timing is great. At first I thought the flowers were throw pillows. 😅 They are darling!

I ove the face scrubbies, so those first. No winter wear; I live in Florida, so never those. Little bags? Bring them on! Also, ice cream bowl holders! Great ideas! Thank you!
