The info isn't all that solid. Some of it is completely inaccurate to be honest. For instance, the claim that Revelation is a direct sequel to the Filmation show is false. Kevin Smith himself has stated that Revelation is a spiritual sequel not a true sequel to the original show. He has said so during some podcasts and in tweets as well. Here's a couple of his tweets confirming this. "The show's producer is Mattel- so everything we do in REVELATION is more toy- based. The old show is owned by another studio, which is why I've always said our Mastersofficial series is a spiritual sequel to the old show. Legally, we can't be an actual sequel to Filmation." "If by "wok" folks mean the female characters have agency, then Revelation is exactly as woke as the cartoon to which our series is a spiritual sequel because Teela and Evil-Lyn were in every ep, fighting alongside He-Man & Skeletor. And Sorceress is more powerful than all of 'em." So, Revelation is not a direct sequel to the Filmation show. It is it's own take on the property and exists within it's own continuity.

You are correct. It is not a direct sequel to the Filmation show. It is a spiritual sequel which would indeed make it a separate series that exists within it's own continuity. Kevin Smith himself has said that it is a spiritual sequel. In case you missed my post on this video here are some tweets by Kevin Smith confirming what I am saying. "The show's producer is Mattel- so everything we do in REVELATION is more toy- based. This would also explain why Evil-Lyn's and Roboto's origins are different in Revelation from what they were in the Filmation show. It would also explain the absence of She-Ra who was part of the Filmation series.

I also love its art style and how committed and wonderful in execution it is to animated action. Still don't see how this is a "straight sequel" to the 1980's cartoon. Other than the look of the characters, there are no other similarities. Revelation is more of a sequel to the 2002 series, similar tone, animation style, even Adam looks the same. It also shows Skeletor's origin in the first episode! 2002 is an earlier take on MOTU (Adam is only 16yrs old), and Revelation maybe takes place 5-10 years later (characters older, costumes change, etc). I read that theres a rights issue, so 2002 series can't be mentioned (nor can Filmation series), real reason why everyone looks different (look from the toys which is something Mattel owns). I liked King Grayskull in the 2002 series, but he did look too much like He-Man (actually looks like Savage He-Man) so I understood the change in Revelation.
@jamisonfrey34522 жыл бұрын
Kevin Smith himself has said that Revelation is not an actual sequel. He has said it is a spiritual sequel. They do not have the rights to the Filmation show nor the 200X show by Mike Young Productions. Revelation is it's own take on the motu property and it exists within it's own continuity. The reason King Grayskull looks so much like He-Man is because the King Grayskull design was originally going to be used for He-Man himself. Ultimately they settled on the look we saw in the show and toy line. They later decided to use the scrapped He-Man design for King Grayskull. I don't see any problem what so ever with them looking so much alike. They are of the same bloodline after all. The two of them looking alike wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. I'd also note that the Revelation version of Skeletor comes from a race of skull headed beings from another dimension, unlike the 200X version who was once Keldor. This was revealed in the tie-in comics to Revelation which were written by Kevin Smith himself.
@LadyLionessAndFriends2 жыл бұрын
The only thing new about Skelegod was his name. The origin of Skelegod comes from the 1987 live action film Masters of the Universe. Revelations took pieces from every He-Man franchise except the New Adventures of He-Man and put it in thd show. When Skeletor says, "Let this be our final battle..." that line came directly verbatim from the live action film. Several of the characters were not portrayed true to character... Evil Lynn hated and dispised Skeletor and was always trying to take over. Man at Arms was too loyal to the kingdom and the planet to just go away. The king and queen were way better people than portrayed, after all, they raised the man who became He-Man. Kevin Smith claimed to be a He-Man fan, but his version was obvious to old school He-Man fans who grew up watching every day after school in the 80s that Smith wasn't a fan back in the day. In fact fans dug up old posts from Kevin Smith where he himself states he wasn't much of a He-Man fan, of course this was way before he knew he was taking on this project. While the story of Revelations is compelling, it's not true to the original series in any way.

Isn't this the 2nd time we see a version of Skelegod? First time would be the live action Masters of the Universe film. He doesn't call himself Skelegod exactly, but does call himself a God. And Lynngod makes no sense, I remember only those who are descendants of King Grayskull could summon the Power of Grayskull. Adam is a descendant (would explain how he doesn't need the sword to summon the Power), as is King Randor and also his half brother Keldor, aka Skeletor. Skeletor being He-Man's uncle is mentioned in the 2002 series, the Netflix CGI series, and the comics. Evil Lynn however is not related, yet she can call upon the Power, which means anyone can according to Revelation!

@@MrXon Yeah, that was the pre-Filmation mini comics version of Skeletor's origin as well.
