Jod lashing out is interesting. "You're the worst" to Wim - perhaps he sees too much of himself in the little boy pining for his lost mother? He did show some sympathy twd the boys in ep4 - even hugged them. Then what Wim spoke of in early ep5 may have hit... a little too close to home. Still think there's a significant mom in that backstory. May explain a lot about his behaviour w women. He does come off as a narcissistic/manipulative character w grown-up women, while being cold and hostile to (and a bit afraid of?) Fern and KB, neither of which he can manipulate. Something has got to be up with Jod -- for example, why would he don his silly helmet again once he gets back in the good graces of the pirate crew? They know already who he is and it wasn't needed. I thought there would be a reason why he was acting like that, but I think he's gone past the point of no return on turning back to a 'good pirate' guy at the end. Cutting off 33's head, killing Brutus when he couldn't move and most of all scaring the hell out of the kids with the lightsaber and hinting that he'd hurt their family. He's too dark now to be easily explained if they wanted to in the last episode. It was a bit of a surprise, though, as I thought they'd have him have a change of heart by the end and unless he's been controlled by an outside force or this is some changling that has taken Jod's form, I can't see how they could explain his evil actions. The wonderful mystery of the treasure planet has held up extremely well into what will be the last episode. Acolyte writers, take note of how to do a proper mystery that keeps fans fascinated. The whole set-up the planet and the mint leaves so many questions. First is who is in charge of minting a zillion Old Republic Credits and for what purpose? Even if this is some sort of tie-in to Palpatine's minions in TROS, to explain how the Sith Eternal could afford to build 1,000s of Star Destroyers, it wouldn't really make sense as who would they pay with these old Republic credits, anyway? Wouldn't that flood the market with old currency (or more accurately, coins)? If the credits have an established value not based on precious metals (and they look like they're gold, but if they aren't actually gold, silver or platinum) then wouldn't a sudden influx of thousands of ancient credits in new condition strike the New Republic authorities as very odd? Unless the Sith Eternal melts down the credits into bars or something, it would be weird, especially since it would be a currency from a government system two generations old. The Empire had their own currency as did the New Republic, so Old Republic Credits would be as odd as someone paying with a Morgan Silver Dollar (in mint condition) for a purchase today. If instead, the operation on At Atin is simply a supervisor droid that never got the memo about historical changes, then clearly that mysterious pirate captain figured out that he could pose as an representative to pick up a cash shipment. The Onyx Cinder's outer shell was merely a disguise to hide the ship he used in the ruse. Since dead pirates were on board when the kids found the ship, some struggle ensued and I wouldn't be surprised to find that this captain is living now on At Atin and may even be the supervisor or something like that. The thing is, if there are over 1,000 warehouse sized rooms to store the credits, it looks like the Onyx Cinder would not have been able to carry very much at one time, so that pirate captain would have had to make a bunch of runs back and forth and surely the droid 33 would have told the kids about all of this. And if you were hauling millions of credits on a ship, you'd expect it would have been armed to the teeth and heavily armored like a Star Wars version of an Armored car. The Onyx Cinder only had one or two gun placements on it (plus the big grabbing hand, I guess). I guess we'll all find out what happens next week, but whatever the outcome, this series has been far better than The Acolyte in all areas and Jude Law has shined in his mysterious role as Captain Silva/Crimson Jack/or whoever he really is.

My predictions for episode 8: Jod claims to be a Jedi hero who has saved the children, relying on his earlier threats, so that they play along. A droid informs him that the supervisor won't come to meet him, but they can take him to the supervisor instead. Jod insists on bringing the families along, so that the children won't blow his cover out of his sight. Everything seems to be going well until te frigate gets shot down by Chekhov's turbolaser gun on top of the school. It turns out that the supervisor is Captain Rennod, as the camera focuses in on his symbol he's (vainly) wearing somewhere on him (clothes, signet ring, anything) right before the frigate gets shot, and its meaning gets pointed out by Jod or one of the children to the viewers and everyone present right after it goes down. Rennod actually tries to kill everyone, so as to keep his secret, but Jod protects them, further confusing the children. (My take is that he might harm innocents when he deems it necessary to get his riches but definitely not when it makes no difference to his fortune one way or the other.) The parents find out about the New Republic and decide to openly contact it. The two X-wings swoop in, as Jod manages to escape with anywhere between a single datary and a cargo hold full of old Republic credits, but most likely between a literal handful and all his pockets stuffed with as many credits as he can fit in them. Some months later, we see the children settled back into not quite their old lives, as At Attin society deals with the upheaval of connecting their planet back into the wider galaxy. And maybe someone mentions that a huge influx of old Republic credits would crash the market on them, although I expect the New Republic to simply adopt these unearthed riches into their currency system.
@blackshogun2725 сағат бұрын
If we're gonna be real, the amount of credits needed to economically crash the galactic market would be absurd. Yeah, all that cash flowing into a singular system or sector would be horrific on their economy but across EVERY world in the known galaxy? Nah, gotta have hundreds of credit stacks higher than Olympus Mons.

And I think they should ask themselves if they were ever truly fans in the first place? I get being angry. I get being frustrated. I do not get allowing those things to deprive one of enjoying SW that is this damn good! Am I wrong?

I would love to see Luke show up and put Jod in his place, showing the kids what a real Jedi looks like. I don’t think it would be gratuitous, I think it would be genuine payoff to the beginning of the series with Wim being inspired by tales of the Jedi
@CzujePismoNosem16 сағат бұрын
I think someone here forgot that someone here is impersonating the Emissary of the Republic. You can focus there on evil and theories, but I have a feeling that something is going to happen here that will give kids hope and faith that there are True Jedi in the galaxy and that means that one would expect a certain Gentleman in a black mantle and with one glove on his hand and an emerald sword in his hand. and if I am wrong you can correct me, but for now there is no other option because the true Emissary is only one at this time and only he can defeat the pirate and usurper. 💚

You’re right. This would have been a great show for 80s television. I appreciate that Jod doesn’t seem to be getting a redemption arc. The expectation was that Jod would turn out to be a scoundrel like Han Solo. Keeping him as an unrepentant villain, a force of evil, ups the ante and is going to make the finale more satisfying. Great series!!

Skeketon Crew brought me back to Star Wars. I’m in love with the show. It’s simple, fun with a bit of magic and the story is well written. Yes, like Star Wars should be! Because of Skeleton crew, I have finally watched Andor and my God it’s a masterpiece. But more than anything, watching my 3 daughters screaming at the TV to yell at Jod was the best. Wim is so much like me when I was a kid, that’s just what I needed. I’m 52, saw The Empire Strikes back on the theater. That show brought me back to that sweet time. I can’t wait for the last episode. And my kids too. And btw, thanks Thor for the safe space you have created here to share our love of Star Wars.

At the start of the series I was convinced he’d have the “heart of gold” and help the kids in the end but now I’m not so sure. One thing I am sure of is that I trust this show to pull off either direction for Jod’s character as they’ve nailed pretty much everything else.

I had very low expectations going in. But this show has been a real treat and gotten better week over week. What I find odd is that the marketing efforts were just so sub par. I wasn't excited for Obi Wan, but the trailer was great so excited (then disappointed). Here it's been the reverse. I thought the trailers stank but the show is great. You hit the nail on the had in that what this show proves is that a great SW show can have new characters and places, but nor have yoda or Luke or anyone else. That's what Disney need to do more of. Give us a cool rogue one movie, or something about the chiss: move beyond the ight against the empire and do something new.

Speaking of the Pirate Code, that's been one thing they have emphasized over a few episodes now in different scenarios. I gotta admit it was pretty funny seeing Silvo get no backsies'd by SM33, wasn't expecting that one. He had been relying on the Code up till that point and well... We the audience aren't being shown & told certain things just because they're cool, there's a reason for everything that they put on the screen in this series.

This episode was all kinds of awesome! I am a tad disappointed that we never got to see Brutus straight up fight somebody though. Oh well. Now I hope Jod doesn't make some kind of redeeming face turn at the end. Excluding Darth Vader, once you've kidnapped and threated children and their families for profit, there is no turning back. There are villainous actions that absolutely shouldn't be overlooked or forgiven, and no amount of loveable rogue charisma should prevent such a character from a dismal fate.* I also hope the next episode will be a definitive end. It's not because I don't enjoy the show. In fact, it is because I love the show that I don't want it to be ruined by additional seasons. I'd welcome seeing the characters again in the future in a totally new movie or new series. However, I don't want Skeleton Crew II: Rennod's Revenge and Skeleton Crew 3: Senior Yearbook Committee and Skeleton Crew: The Rise Of Red Tape. * A major reason why I stopped watching The Walking Dead was because the series slowly switched Negan from a ruthless antagonist to a complex antihero. That's just so wrong!

If you only talk to them when they are doing bad you build this wall and work isnt enjoyable for anyone. When disney star wars gets it right and we want them to continue getting it right. We need to show up and tell them, "This, this is what we want from you." If we dont show them there is profit to he made giving us what we want, maybe.....just maybe we will get it.

The whole "unclaimsies" thing was dumb, but the lead up to that might have been even more dumb. SM-33 just got done saying that Jod couldn't be captain of both ships. Then just as Whim was going to claim the ship, Jod claims it? But he doesn't say he forfeits captaincy of the other ship or name its new captain? This seems like a case of two dumb parts that basically cancel each other out. They could have left both of those dumb parts out and end up at the same point.

I was at first saddened by the shortness of the episode, but yes, it was perfect. Before i watch: this is good due to good character development and good mystery for the audience. mystery with regards to jod and at-attin and all the great child actors have been awesome with their own needs, wants and dreams. i love that wim is always trying to be a hero... i know he got to be one by helping KB, but i think he might have more of a moment in the finale. I do think jod is a force user but i think he has been so scarred and so hurt by his own childhood that he resents the children and or resents the way he feels towards them and their seemingly nice home. I dont know about others, but i have often been jealous over my younger peers and their upbringing. I also wonder whose blade he has, but it's a shoto blade and he seems to use it a bit sloppily. i like that they foreshadowed that he would be a bad guy and the show kept him as such. i do think SM33 will be able to be fixed. Personally, I also don't thin the supervisor is human either, i was thinking a separatist tactical droid but i dont think that may be so. again, there is still the mystery of at-attin and even the parents said the kids were not to know until they graduated. oh and i think the music composition is great! i love the more pirate like theme when they are in the show, i love the ending music, etc. the composer did great. sorry for some stream of consciousness, i just enjoy your insight and i love to add my own.

I’m actually hoping Jod makes it out of this. I feel all this is a front to really get this score. Cause let’s face it. This is like the “final” heist for him. As far as SM-33. I love his switch up. Being a Pirate Droid already. Can’t really fault him doing something sly of hand. Like siding with kids. It’s a classic “ can’t trust pirates “ also someone mentioned it. But he does say “ oi, close enough. “ meaning he’s literally looking for anything to side with the kids.

The characters have had time to develop, none seem to have jumped their journey to some inexplicable end. What is satisfying is there has been a good amount put into building a foundation for many new stories that all are engrossing and can eventually, if desired, be tied to other storylines within Star Wars. There doesn’t seem to be a rush to do that where others have failed (ehem, Acolyte).
