Geee-ma-kneee! That turned out flabergastingly cool. I love the on-the-fly engineering you did throughout the project, from bending and securing the armature wire to retrofitting the battery switch to improvising the additional framing "moulding" that widened your frame. This was really well done and thoroughly documented. I hope you have a successful channel going forward! You've got the creativity and ingenuity, that's for damn sure.

That's a fantastic prop build... and it was amazing! What a wonderful gift!!! I'm a new sub to your channel, So what I'd like to do is ask a few questions about the choices: I'm curious why you didn't choose to dry brush the skelly or corpse it a bit. Also I find that wood stains work a treat at getting the colors, the bronze color looks more like you needed some orange, I've used a couple of minwax stains to get a desired effect, one is too orange I put that on first and then use another one like a walnut to dull it down and I can get that variated effect like the picture frame. I've a fellow home haunter... I do a small garage/yard walk through and you can see my videos on my channel. All my stuff is mostly repurposed props, I program Arduinos to actuate the pneumatics, lighting, sound, etc. I will try to put more videos out, but I barely get the yearly walk throughs, so that has to suffice for now. I'll have to say you are a lucky man to find a wife that adores a haunted picture for her birthday! I hope one day to find one, and for sure that's going to be my dating criteria: "Do you like Halloween"? LOL... Hey, I was great discovering your channel. Good stuff!
@Paulsprops-dc4mt Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I did the spray on the skeleton because I had to cover the old green paint. And once it was painted, i liked the way it looked, so i left it alone. Im one of the people that if i play with something too much trying to get a specific look, i mess it up and have to start over. The trim i just wanted it to match the skeleton to help tie the two parts together because i wasn't sure if i was going to be able to get it just right. I have a wonderful and supportive wife. She encourages me to build and make stuff. Might sound cheesy, but i hit all the right numbers on the lottery with her. I do like Halloween. My family and i have been doing Halloween haunted houses and cemetery display for almost 40 years now. It is something my mom started, and we've just been doing it ever since. On this page, you'll see a few things I've done for Halloween. I also just started this page. And im still building it. I have another page called Bluedakota80 where i have my other stuff, but it seemed that that page wasn't doing so well, being that i started it in 2011. Plus, that other page has a mixture of different things that i like to make, so it's not just one type of thing. If you like Ghostbusters, you should check out my ecto-1 build that's on that page. I plan on making all kinds of how-to videos on this page and showing my displays. What i like to do is show others how you can make really cool props for your display cheaply and easily. With just average stuff you can find anywhere. I had someone ask me to show how i did my shadow box i did for my 2021 cemetery display, so i will be making that very soon. What is the name of your channel? Would like to check it out.

32:59 you should have painted it gold at first then did a black wash over the entire surface to bring the brightness down to more of an antiquated look similar to the frame you chose...PS love the final outcome bro and kinda want to make one myself but instead of the skeleton holding a lamp it'll be holding a glowing energy weapon or power sword, the blueprint should be fun to plan out 😊
@Paulsprops-dc4mt Жыл бұрын
I was concerned that if i went to dark, it wouldn't show up as well. The light isn't super bright, and the darker i go, the less it would show. It was a compromise. Sounds like what you are planning going to look really cool. Hope this helps you along the way. If you have any questions, let me know.

@Paulsprops-dc4mt thanks for the advice, I'll definitely contact you whenever I run into anything that another perspective would help me to continue moving forward, I'm thinking i might use either strip lighting or individual LEDs strategically placed for either a pulsating effect or sliding effect from one point to another (from base to tip of sword or from the front tip to back of the shaft of the energy weapon)

Quick tip, if you want people to stick around until the end of your video...... Do not show the finished product in the beginning of your video. It just blows my mind that people don't understand this concept. Don't get me wrong, this thing is absolutely dope and I'm sure your craftsmanship is second to none, but I've seen the finished product there is no curiosity of how it looks in the end so I don't really feel the need to stick around and watch the process. Just a little constructive criticism. Take care, thumbs up for the algorithm because I believe in supporting artists, but I'm not sticking around and watching the video. Sorry bud.
@Paulsprops-dc4mt Жыл бұрын
I did that because i noticed people weren't watching the whole video anyway. So i put it first so you can see it, and if you're curious enough to see how i made it, you would have to watch the video, or you wouldn't see the construction of it. Plus, it's on the cover photo. If i did did that you wouldn't even click on it in the first place. The average watch time is only a couple of minutes unless it really captures your interest. So if i start with me working on it unless you skip to the end, you would never get past the first five minutes. It's a catch 22. Thank you for your feedback.
