Did you ever say what kind of wire you're using to bend? Thanks, Paul!
@Paulsprops-dc4mt28 күн бұрын
@costumesforalloccasions kind of. It's that heavy-duty wire i use on a lot of my stuff. It's called tension wire. It's in the fencing section at lowes or Home Depot. It's 1/8 or .0125 inch thick

For me it’s not the big picture stuff your doing that I enjoy. It’s the small stuff like how you filled out the body form with wire and cardboard. Using old tool boxes is genius too. I will be using these ideas. Can’t wait for the next project.

Very awesome prop. The chainsaw was a "plot twist" to the prop that I think vastly improved the scare factor. The only thing I think needs improvement is with the lighting when the tree is falling over, it is odd that the character's light goes out and the strobe goes... maybe if you dim the light down a bit? I'm going to guess that might not be possible, either on or off... but I'm not familiar with the Picaboo prop controller's capabilities if the one you have can do those things. Since I do my own DIY prop controllers, I build them up from scratch and into a system... with that, I have a lot of flexibility in the timing, controls, and capabilities. Perhaps one day I will make these prop controllers available in the future for use by home haunters. It is certainly been on my radar to do for a long time.
@Paulsprops-dc4mtАй бұрын
@raymitchell9736 thank you. I like the character change. Makes more since having to tree falling over having someone cutting it down. We did that at the moment to transfer the attention to the tree. By turning him from the center of attention to the tree. Im sure when it's set up, I'll be redoing it to fit the display based on timing and other aspects like any lighting that will be casting on it. To the direct in which they will be seeing it. With those controllers, they are on/ off. No In-between. But very user-friendly for low-tech stuff like this.

Nice job can't wait to see part 2. You are an inspiration, I was going to go the unrealistic,. Way the cardboard song tube's and stuff . But, I've got access to the foam blocks for trailers you get from tractor supply and rural king. Plus 4 foot × 10 foot × 4 inch thick foam sheets and yours tree looks so much better and realistic. Than any others I've seen so far. Glad I watched your video . Now just for me to wait for spring to get to work on it . Thanks again for the inspiration.

@MiroslavGarc94 i ended up selling it. But i remember making it 96" long, 60" tall, and 40" wide. Was made with 1/4 plywood. Used about two and a half sheets. Six 1x2s to help reinforce the plywood. A few small pieces of 2x4s for the bottom and nose area. 6" steel wheels and red bed sheets for the curtains.

Very creative , love the motion of the casket , looks fantastic . It tells a story like something out of Tales From The Crypt , so if you wanted a different character sitting on top then your gangster could be changed to the Cryptkeeper with one hand on the sledgehammer and one holding an open book with an illustrated version of your casket escaping on the cover . Beautiful prop. Inspiring to the rest of us. It would appear there is enough torque. How much weight are the motors moving? Are the motors getting hot?
@Paulsprops-dc4mt3 ай бұрын
@jbponzi1 i would say they are lifting 10, maybe 15 pounds between the 2x2s and foam. Those motor do get hot. I think it just the way they are constructed. I've used these before, and they always get hot. But they are a good mid way motor between the raindear and wiper motors.
@jbponzi13 ай бұрын
@ thanks. Looks heavier. It’s a sticky situation for me when I can’t get specs on a lot of these prop motors and other parts and worry about reliability. Sucks being an engineer, hard to let go of that thought process.
