I started playing in season 8, and have 5 heirlooms. 3 of them were from buying packs, and 2 of them were from completing collection events. The secret, aside from buying any of the larger pack bundles that pop up in the sales, is to use an autoclicker to open the packs, then do something to distract yourself, like watching a video. If the game doesn't sense your anticipation, it will most likley drop some legendary items after a while to get your attention. Just ignore those. If you do so for long enough, it will finally drop shards. It's a very needy game, and will go to great lengths to feed off your soul.

@@frankiesunderland6382 Hi Legend. In a heirloom event you can buy or craft 12 epic items and 12 legendary items. You just have to know that the crafting prices are doubled in collection event.

There are 12 of each so it’s multiplying 800 by 12 = 9,600 and multiplying 2400 by 12 = 28,800. You add them together and it comes out as/ is equal to 38,400. 79,340 is slightly more than twice of 38,400, because 38,400 multiplied by 2 is 76,800. Therefore, 79,340 is more than enough to buy the next two collection heirlooms. Plus the shards squired through future apex packs

After reading other comments and thinking about it... Technically you get a guaranteed 2 heirloom for 1250 packs which would cost $1100 dollars. But then you have enough shards to purchase 2 more heirlooms as they release during an event from crafting. Meaning Technically you get 4 heirlooms for 1100 but saved yourself 300 dollars (approximately if you purchased through 2 collection events) meaning it really only cost 800 dollars for 4 heirlooms... Yippee Ki yay what a deal!
