What type pencil do you recommend I sketch with? At the moment I sketch with a H2 as it gives sharp lines, however I noticed with the pencil used in this video you get really nice dark lines when you need them.

I allow myself to answer your question. While 2H stays sharp very long, it doesn't give you much contrast. Spencer uses Prismacolor Verythin and Permier Pencils which are in fact colored pencils, not the graphite ones like you use. It's a bit more difficult to sketch with since you can't erase this well (if you want to). You have to be confident with your "final" lines. Instead of colored pencils you could also use a darker graphite pencil, say a 3B or something.
