How long did those watercolour paintings take？I would feel so awkward sitting there with a palette and brush painting...

Depending on the amount of details I put into the sketches, it can vary from around 45 minutes to a couple of hours. I typically do a very rough, quick pencil sketch to plan out the composition and then draw the details in ink. I've since switched over to a compact palette that fits on the palm of my hand. Also, a portable tripod stool and water brush pens are very handy for these types of sketches. I hope that helps!
