Thanks for putting this up Drew. I recently came back to my sketchbooks after quite a while of not drawing, and now the bookmarks that have to do with art take up most of my laptop. In these is a folder: "More Great Artists and Ideas". In that folder I have Searle, Steadman, Giraud, Scarry, Ansel Adams, etc...and Drewscape!

Your sketchbook tour is inspirational! It really encourages me to experiment not only with technique and styles, but ideas and topics and everything! Most importantly, not be afraid and just draw! What did you use to glue the poster onto your sketchbook cover?
@Drewscape-art6 күн бұрын
Thanks! Well the poster wasn't glued. The poster is the cover because I made the sketchbook. I describe the process here kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5-8oIqCepaSo5I

Hi, Andrew. Could you please consider maybe making a video sharing a bit of your process on how you make these digitally enhanced versions out from your drawings on the sketchbook? If there's a video in your channel in witch you might have already done this, could you please direct me to it? Anyways, this sketchbook was really interesting, and very inspiring. Thank you so much.

I love how you show your progression in your craft. Trying the noses from the Arab comic\cartoon... that's very helpful. Your daughter's song is really cute... I see she has your creativity. Thank you for making and sharing this video... I love the experimentation with the different mediums... the inks and the chalks...I'm new to this but to see someone experienced still trying new things... helps me to know that I will probably be doing the same years down the line :)

Yes she is growing up liking art, perhaps from seeing me draw. There are so many ways to draw and so many mediums that it will take more than a lifetime to learn and master. And I do enjoy being an amateur at something new. It’s fun.

Just subscribed. Thanks for the videos. I am a writer and I enjoy your artistic insights, which inspire me. I started watching you when I take breaks from my own writing. I want to encourage my child to draw and I was wondering what drawing pads do you use, in this video, for example?
@Drewscape-art2 күн бұрын
Welcome:) I’m encouraging my child to draw more too. But I found it often comes from imitation- seeing me draw. Not so much from me teaching her:) if you aren’t using pricey watercolours and are using paints like poster color or acrylic, the paper doesn’t matter so much. Because I like using pen and ink, I bought my own paper and make my own sketchbook. The paper in this video was ambassador wove and I think 230gsm. But most cartridge sketchbook paper that can take light washes would work just fine.

I just love both your sketchbooks and your videos! They are so unique and amazing! ❤ What glueing method do you use? Everything seems so well glued. And do you use fixative spray with chalk pastels? I admire your creativity and art so much! You really live IN/the art.
@Drewscape-art9 күн бұрын
Hi, for glueing, I just use white glue that kids use. I hardly use fixative (though I have it) because I only apply a bit of pressure with chalk pastels and use only a bit and rub it in. So it doesn’t mess up the opposite page much. Then again, my threshold of mess might be a little high. I don’t mind some accidental rub-offs:)
@dma82847 күн бұрын
Awesome work, thank you so much for sharing! Love the experiments with the chalk pastels. I was wondering if you apply any fixative to the pastels or will they stay like this anyway?
@Drewscape-artКүн бұрын
I sometimes do. But often I do not, because I only apply a bit and then I rub it in. So it doesn’t transfer much:)
@NinaKhashchina17 күн бұрын
Great video - so many ideas :) I am off to experiment with the play dough stamps! Oh And how do you keep chalk pastel from smudging all over the opposite page? Thanks for sharing!
@Drewscape-art17 күн бұрын
Hi Nina! Haha yes the stamps go with that printmaking effect. To keep them from smudging…I might use a fixative or put a tissue paper between pages. Sometimes I don’t care and surprise myself with what transfers to the opposite page 😂

What materials do you use in your sketchbook? I noticed that you used paper and some stickers, but what ink did you use for your diary comics?
@Drewscape-art18 күн бұрын
Oh I use anything I have. Acrylics, folded pens, G-nibs, indian ink. But for fountain pens, I use Platinum Carbon Black.

Do you ever listen to music whilst you draw? If you do, please share some of your favourite tracks!
@Drewscape-art18 күн бұрын
Ah yes, music helps daydreams. When I’m out urban sketching, I don’t have music. At home, I might listen to piano or lofi or instrumental pieces. I can’t have music with lyrics when I’m writing stories, because it interferes with the stories haha. If I’m just drawing mindlessly or painting, I might be listening to NF nowadays. Im open to most music. I’m sure you have your own music that motivates you to draw too:)
