These sketchbooks are so inspiring! I live just across the border in Blaine and I have to say you have captured the colors of the area so beautifully. It was a little reminder of last summer on this snowy day.

I really enjoy the review of your sketches for last Spring and Summer. I enjoyed watching you sketch and paint them then. They warm me up on a freezing 3 degree F. evening. Thank you!

I’ve searched out many other art journals. Your’s is my favorite. It’s like a picture book. The others I’ve seen are (can be) a real hodge podge of art craft supplies with no real story. Maybe those are meant to be a story of experiencing different supplies, I’m not sure, but they’re not for me. Thank you for sharing your art journal.

Hey Becky thanks for your video. Can you make a video how to measure I mean how to decide how far you can include in your sketching when you are outside. Please thanks
@recoveringsoul75510 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean. Like do you mean if you want a certain part of outside to be on the page so it fits? Because we can't draw the whole 360° panorama view, right? I'm not sure this will help or not but I just heard about a tool that is New to Me, called Proportional Dividers, or Scale Dividers . If you search KZbin you'll find videos on it. I think it's a drafting tool Helps you to look at something and scale it up or down or 1:1 scale. Another method I've seen is people will cut a hole in a piece of cardboard or cereal boxes. Let's say your sketchbook has square pages. You would cut a square. Then look through that square to frame the area you want to capture in your drawing. You could make it rectangular, oval, any shape you want to fill a page or part of one. It's like a mini frame, like a viewfinder on your camera

Hitw do the goats not fall off of that roof?? Du Du is so cute. My last two cats had that same coloring. Have you tried drawing him while he's eating? Does he like catnip or other toys? Mine liked chasing a red dot around the walls and floor when i found a little laser pointer flashlight at the pet store

I so enjoy everything you share: the drawings and the stories. Question: I’ve noticed you use brown ink. Is that just your preference color wise and do you ever use black? I’m just curious. Thanks so much
@BeckyCao7 ай бұрын
Most of the pages in these sketchbooks were done with black ink... before switching to brown ink last July, I've been using black ink for over 10 years.
