I honestly can’t get enough of your videos man am slowly working my way through them all. What tips would you give somebody wanting to achieve artwork similar to this. Do you have any book recommendations or things I should be concentrating on ??

Thank you so much James! But... maybe don't go too far back hahaha the videos get a bit rough at some point :) Artwork like this is the result of so many little experiments that it is hard to know what the ingredients really are. If you keep at it, even when you feel like giving up, you'll eventually reach a point where your work begins to shine. Just look at a lot of art from people you admire, but really look at it! Ask yourself how they might have achieved a certain result, come up with a hypothesis, and then test it. Make sure you try to work with a couple different mediums, you'll learn a lot about rendering with a pencil if you practise painting 3D forms in photoshop, for example. Just take one thing at a time and never stop exploring. As for books, Colour and light, by james gurney, is a great place to start. Good luck and keep on drawing!

@@matthewdobrichillustration9014 haha no worries I will stick to the pencil drawings for now then. I appreciate that I suppose everybody has there own journey where leads to different outcomes. That’s really helpful actually I will that make some notes on things they do and try and replicate it myself. Thank you for all the advice and help I promise I won’t ask any more long winded questions. Not only are your videos amazing but your a stand up guy as well 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Hi Parker, thanks for watching! I'll definitely do a sketchbook tour soon, I'm getting close to the end of this one :)

There is so much material around on digital art, or drawing with pens, or photorealistic rendering with pencils etc. the list goes on, but not so much on how these beautiful sketchbook drawings are made. Thanks for sharing
