The eyes came Outta nowhere with a few simple moves. It came alive after that wowa. And dried water colour has this special life to it. It's such a simple thing, take colour add water but the way you use it is brilliant and needs to be respected. Seems easy but that's because of your talent and practice :)

What a nice, straightforward tutorial. Your ink and watercolor art style is beautiful (it's actually what made me click the thumbnail, on the art style alone), and I love watching the techniques behind beautiful artwork. The dots and proportion estimates are a great way to visualize without having to sketch with a pencil first, and I'll certainly be giving it a try myself! I've only used watercolors once in my life, but I've been wanting to try them again. I see you have a tutorial about watercolor washes, so I'm probably headed there next. Thanks for sharing!

As always Scottie, that was interesting, useful and enjoyable to watch! I think a lot of people find portrait drawing the most intimidating - there is such a small margin for error. Everyone knows exactly how a face should look; the proportions and the relation of the features. It was interesting to see how carefully you added each line, and with just a few key lines the face took shape.

I think this is more useful for people who are already a bit skilled rather than newcomers. I'm starting to feel more confident with my sketches but if I went all linework right from the beginning without guidelines and the skeleton it would come up very inconsistent because I haven't developed a deep sense of space like you have.
