I had seen Tony Buzan's Mindmapping idea in the late 70s and so in college 1980-1983 - I did mindmaps for my lecture notes and for essay planning (even though I was doing Chemistry - we had to write essays!) and to be honest the mindmaps were much better than the essays - but they didn't count. I have rarely been a linear written word kind of person which is weird as I do read a lot but my own output as a teacher (originally of Mathematics and later of English) always centred around a visual "mindmap" style - as I come to the end of my career and have to care for my partner - I discovered sketchnotes and feel a sense of - this is an injection of something new / extending my repertoire - I produce presentation slides for classes - to provide the frameworks and stimulae for those discussions and I think I might move to doing it via sketchnotes and using the document camera that is in the classroom gathering dust.

I didn't know the way I take notes had a name, sketchnoting is exactly what I usually do at university beacuse it helps me staying active during long classes. After classes, I often do mind mapping

Hey, Doug! Do you even run out of paper/space when sketchnoting? I am trying to improve my notes but I have a hard time making everything fit on sheets of regular notebook paper. Larger papers are not viable as the desks are about as large as a dinner plate at my university. Anyway, I love your positive attitude and kind demeanor. I wish you the best!

+❅ winter ❅ Since a lot of science has to do with organizing information, I would rely on mind maps a lot (google that to see examples). That plus your own semi-realistic drawings of whatever it is you're studying might help. Good luck!

about the board, man oh man, i used to do that but instead of using a markboard i remember destroying my wood door by writting with chalk on it xD my mom said that, one we move, she'll get me a chalkboard, since i got a lot of chalk xD
