I have watched some KZbin "professional" and "expert" SketchUp tutorials and they always make me think twice about me being able to do this. After watching just 2 of your videos, this one and the "Coat Rack" video, I now feel like I can learn this. Thank you very much Jay.

Jay, I have used SU for years but, I learn a lot every time you present a new drawing. I have two monitors. After watching your presentation completely through I download the You Tube video and play it on one monitor while following along and drawing on the other. It really helps cement in place in my aging brain the pointers you offer. I Like it! Keep 'em coming. They are my favorites of all the woodworking videos.

Wow, this is really helpful. Haven't used SketchUp much yet, and I'm basically a woodworking infant - accumulating a few inexpensive tools (circular saw and other small items) until I can afford some actual shop tools. It's great to see what is possible with SketchUp and how you can plan so you know exactly how much lumber you need, and how to use it efficiently.

Nuggets from this video that I didn't know or use before. I love these recent videos. 1. Make a diagonal line to create a Snapple center-point. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ayc4hoq9l3rK8 2. You can change the dimensions of only one axis by typing ( ,dimension OR dimension,) kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ayc4hoq9l3rK8 3. You can repeat a snapped multiplication of objects by typing X # kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ayc4hoq9l3rK8 4. You can set custom keyboard shortcuts for tools that don't have shortcuts! kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ayc4hoq9l3rK8 5. You can edit multple parts of a symetric model at once by taking advantage of components. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ayc4hoq9l3rK8 6. F for offset to make super-fast tenons kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ayc4hoq9l3rK8 7. Use Xray rather than K for hidden geometry. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ayc4hoq9l3rK8 8. Using Styles window. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ayc4hoq9l3rK8 9. Can rotate while in the M for move. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ayc4hoq9l3rK8 10. Using Top view for laying out lumber. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ayc4hoq9l3rK8

+Jay Bates Love these sketchup videos. It has definitely improved my efficiency a good deal. I like that you narrate your shortcuts too, hopefully that will stick in my head the next time that I'm working. One area I would love to see you cover is dimensioning and more importantly getting sketchup to actually print something correctly. For whatever reason this process doesn't seem at all intuitive to me and I'm hoping I'm just missing something simple. You could even make an addendum to this video and keep working with this model and take it to the end. Thanks for your hard work.
