Classic Jay content and wizardry! Thank you for getting me into SketchUp all those years ago. You’ve taught me so much!

This was a great review project in Sketchup. Your Sketchup tutorial videos is how I first learned Sketchup. I still go back to those when I need to design something. I always appreciate you talking through what you are doing and what you are thinking it helps me learn. Your retention of how the software functions and what shortcuts you put in place impresses me.

I love watching you build your projects in SketchUp! It’s didn’t realize you could double click to repeat the last push/pull operation! Thanks!!

Sketchup skills continue to elude me. I really need to dedicate some time to it. Thanks for this! Another way to grab a screenshot is Windows + Shft + S. You can decide to grab the whole window or select a portion of it on the fly. If you use multiple monitors, you can also decide to grab all of your screens at once.

Heck yeah! I didn't know that. I use Lightshot but didn't mention it because its something else to install.

You can also just press Print screen without ALT and it will bring up a selection box to capture whatever you want. Thanks for the great tips, Jay!

If you, after creating a new file, hit Shift Z, then save as template, and make that template your default, you no longer need to wonder why it isn't default. A small payback for teaching me triple click :)

It's wonderful to see you're using components, flipped/rotated components to reduce the work you need to do in SketchUp. -But sometimes you can't just copy a single component if you have mirrored them (that's not the case in this case, though - hmm a case in a case ...) Sometimes I group the contents of the components and rotate-copy ("Q") a lot of components, then move the group inside one of the components, just to adjust its position to where all the pieces meet. You don't need to use this "feature" often, but it's quite handy when you actually do need it. Yes, on a Mac, screenshot is something like Command+Shift+3 (or 4) depending on if you want to use a rubber-band, or entire screen. You can also press space after Command+Shift+4 to get a "window-shot"...

Awesome SketchUp video again. Again I learned something new from You. The "Make componet" keyboard shortcut (g). And it's working in SketchUp for Schools too. 😮😁 Now I have to add that to my SketchUp Quick Reference material for my students. Also that saying "dever draw, if you can copy" (it's much faster). That is exactly what I try to teach to my students with SketchUp. Thanks again. 👏👍 And greetings from Finland 🇫🇮 ☃️

Mac screen shot is shift+cmd+3 for entire screen, shift+cmd+4 for a marquee select screen shot.

@@blurboards1 - I find it very useful to press space to get a "window-shot". I think that's the type I use the most myself.

I use windows key+shift+s to get the snipping tool but without the app open. This just puts the image straight in your clipboard. I then open google photos in a web browser and press ctrl+v to paste it straight into my photos. It's then auto synced across all my devices so I can look at it straight from my photos app. No emails or texts needed. Just my way, many ways to skin a cat and all that. the rest of the video, you taught me loads - thanks!

What a great flashback and reminder, you are the absolute best Sketchup teacher, and when I use it, I literally say your same words in my head every time. Question, have you ever used sendcutsend for anything? I haven’t yet but I understand you can make brackets and things on sketchup and they cut the parts and send them to you. Not sure how often you do things with metal but wondered.

That was an extremely well done demonstration. Do you think the frame will need a diagonal brace, or will the half laps and tongue and groove be enough to keep it from going all shifty?
@JayBates
@JayBates 6 ай бұрын
A diagonal brace will help but I'm not entirely sure it will be needed. I can always add it after the fact.

Thickness note on Cyan comps? 3.625" on the Shelf members? 2 of my wives would argue about removing the knots 😕. I notice that you did not use "Intersect", I have never been happy with that function. Totally agree on using existing data! Great idea on G Messages
