Really great video, been using this method for a about a year now, I’ve now made a base colour swatch in my template file, once I’m finished modelling I then alter the colours to suit, or edit the colours with textures 👍

As always, a great presentation/demo. "Thank you!"

What happens to the original color or texture. Is it changes only in the model or is the carpet forever changed in the materials library? How do you copy, modify, and then save a material so you can use it elsewhere? Simple stuff I guess but I don't know, just getting started with Sketchup.

I have been waiting [for years] for the ability to arrange in-model materials in alphabetical order.... Is this an option yet? Please? ..... Pretty please? ;)

When I double-click on the material and then go to the HSB slider, it shows values that have nothing to do with the material/colour I am looking to change (I think it's retaining previous material values or something like that) this doesn't make much sense to me, could you let me know how to make this work as per your video? Many thanks

Still no reset color option on Mac. If I edit a texture and don’t like the way it looks (on windows) I can just hit the reset color button. Also when I edit different materials my color sliders tend to stick to wherever they were in the previous material. So if I edit my carpet to red, then went and try to edit my wall, it would be set to red automatically because of the slider positions...maybe it’s a bug? Been using Sketchup since 2006...can’t believe 2018 on Mac still doesn’t have that option and is still buggy

I guess I just spend too much time on Mac because I did not realize there was an option to reset on windows! In general, I just tap Crtl+Z to undo the color changes if I don't like them.

@@aarondietzen2995 I found this video and was looking to see if it answered the question posed by @Thiago Menezes. I run SU Pro on a Mac and have had the same concern about editing and color wheel and sliders. I had to figure this one out for myself. There are two situations: one adjust color material and two, adjust color of a texture material. Adjusting material color and updating of the color windows and color sliders: 1) From In models , edit the color material. 2) The selected color will be seen in a swatch next to the little eyedropper and a larger one above the "close" button. 3) Click to select the RGB color slider or the Color Wheel. Notice neither selection did not get updated to reflect the color that is currently being edited. 4) Click the little eyedropper and hover over the large swatch above the close button. Click again. 5) Now the color sliders or color wheel are updated with the value of the currently selected color. From this point, subtle adjustments can be made. 6) Select close button to save the adjustments. If you change your mind immediately , cmd-z will undo. Adjusting material texture color and updating of the color windows and color sliders: 1) From In models , edit the texture material. 2) The selected texture will be seen in a swatch next to the little eyedropper and a larger one above the "close" button. 3) Click to select the Color Wheel first (NOT the color sliders). Notice the color wheel did not get updated to reflect the texture color that is currently being edited. Hover over the model space and find an instance of the texture applied. Use the paint bucket eyedropper (hold CMD key) , NOT the little eyedropper, and sample the texture. 4) The color wheel will be updated with the currently selected color of the material texture being edited. If you intend to start your color adjustments using the color sliders, they will not be updated yet. So before leaving the color wheel, click once (without dragging ) on the little pentagon slider below the color wheel. This will update the color for use by the color slider. You may now select the color slider and begin to make changes. 6) Select close button to save the adjustments. If you change your mind immediately , cmd-z will undo.

Can anyone recommend the best tablet for sketchup
@apeGER6 жыл бұрын
What I am missing in Sketchup is a Unshaded Style with Color. Like the White Style but with Color. Simply Unshaded with Color.
@aarondietzen29956 жыл бұрын
Can you explain what you mean by an Unshaded color? All faces receive shading (it's not something that you can turn off). You CAN, however, set your shadow and highlight levels so that shading does not impact your model, similar to what Josh showed in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6vHk36cnduUgMU

Hi Mae! I checked this all the way back to 2015 (the oldest version that I have on my laptop) and it worked just the same! Are you having problems with this in a specific version?
@mae23096 жыл бұрын
Aaron Dietzen Yes 2017 pro. I double click on the color and nothing..
@aarondietzen29956 жыл бұрын
Make certain that you are in the "Home" list of materials, not in the library. If you double-click a material in the library, you will edit that instance of the material, not the one that is in your model. If you are still having problems, head over to our forum (forums/sketchup.com) and reach out for assistance... It is a much better way to get help than here, in the KZbin comments.
