Crown molding is a decorative architectural element that runs along the top of a room where the wall meets the ceiling. It's also known as ceiling molding or cornice..... I appreciate the "how to" tutorial.... but it's also important to understand the architectural terms in what you are specifically doing. This moulding is Baseboard Moulding.

Thanks Eric! Good video. I wonder if I could create a cut list for crown or base with this method. Would need accurate measurements of the room first though. Not sure I can "COPE" with the comments though...(carpenter pun intended). Normally there is casing around door openings so the base (board) would stop there. Crown molding would normally be continuous around the room.

This is not crown moulding!!! At least whoever titled the video got it right. Also, I know most of the time your intention is to demo concepts using native tools, but it would be worth mentioning extensions that could do this a whole lot easier (ie. Profile Builder).

Yep, that was distracting for me too. At first I thought it was a slip of the tongue, but after a few repeats, it's clear Eric doesn't know crown moulding (look up!) from baseboard (look down). It turned into a drinking game, and I counted 10 mentions of "crown moulding", at 00:06, 00:16, 00:18, 01:48, 02:17, 03:14, 03:23, 07:53, 10:05, and 10:41.

great! But how to clean that extra corner geometry after the last step?

i saw that too XDXDXD. The better way using this method would to not create the moulding where there are gaps in the first place and break it into 5 steps where all the separate continuous wall paths are - if using a complex moulding pattern (which is all standard follow me practice).

This was just an informational video to sell the course. He just taught people enough for them to find out how that way looks like crap so they go ahead and buy the course. He also confused the inexperienced person saying "group" as he was creating components.

I would suggest everyone just pay the money for profile builder extension. Its worth it + you can do assemblies

Removing the solid does not leave a great corner as shown at the 10:00 min mark. I love using the profile builder plugin for specifically crown and base moulding.

The detail where you removed the molding, look wierd?

thank you, ı have a open bottom face if ı select the floor to guideline. I cant make the solid skirting if ı preselect the floor face. when ı select the edges it works as a solid skirting group.

That may be a time saver but no baseboard returns into an opening like that.
