That is pretty slick. I was surprised that "explode" combined things. Seems counterintuitive.

InTnMnNmAz Glad you liked it! One of the great powers of SketchUp is that it is constantly reviewing geometry and merging it together when it can. It’s a great tool to have, as long as you know how to use it!

Like the 3D modeling using the sand box. Haven't tried that yet, but it suggests lots of possibilities.

Really fun video- it is great to see what SketchUp is capable of. I don’t use sandbox tools at all and this showed me that maybe I should!. Just maybe not for chips! Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. You cheated. The reverse side of the bag will have a mirror image, and "pUhctekS"

Jeff Harmed Ha! Good point! If this bag were going further, I would likely have applied a different image to the back half.

This is great. I use SketchUp for Point of Sale design and retail design. Adding collateral always makes the concept pop and more believeable. This technique will be great for chips, bags of lollies etc. 👍

I would love for you to teach us how to draw a completely upholstered arm chair using only native tools, or atleast with minimum extension help. I would gladly provide you that chair model. Great video btw, it was very helpful!

Fun video, not really applicable for my work, but fun still. I have an architecture firm and we use SketchUp to create all our construction documents. I would love to see a video on dealing with windows. I don't currently have an extension for fenestrations and have looked into many. I would love to see how others deal with fenestrations and changing them throughout the project. They seem to take me a while adjust them when we are looking at changing things when everything is already drawn.
@aarondietzen2995
@aarondietzen2995 6 жыл бұрын
Do you use components for your windows, now? What kind of changes are you needing to make? I would love to make a video or two about this. Just fill me in a little more on the issues you are seeing.
@kylemacht
@kylemacht 6 жыл бұрын
I am making my own components and trying to keep them organized. On the most recent project clients wanted mullions, then a different design, then a different size, etc. I found myself having to make many little changes. Components helped but there were 13 different types of windows in that face of the home. Each window was a component that included exterior trim. Inside the component there was a group for the trim, a group for the frame of the window, then a component for each sash and a group inside that for the mullions. Many little steps each time we want to change a window, not including having to move the R.O. in the wall. I know there are extensions that make this process faster but I wasn't sure which was the best and many seem to do some things but not other things. I know this is easy in other softwares but they aren't as much fun. Does this give you enough info? I probably need to spend more time setting it all up with our favorite windows or make them dynamic components and just have them all scalable so that the frames, trim, etc. stays the same size.

Kyle Macht I cannot say it will cover all of your issues, but FlexTools is worth checking out. It does a great job with R.O.s and I believe that the parametric windows were pretty good.
@kylemacht
@kylemacht 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I saw FlexTools a while back then forgot what it was called and couldn't find it again. I think this may be what I am looking for. It just seems that fenestrations tend to be the most time consuming part of my process, mostly when changing/altering things. Overall, I would love to see more architectural based videos. I understand that most people probably want something more basic and universal. Thank you again!

Was wondering if anyone could help. I thought I followed this tutorial down to the T, got to the last stage in using the paint bucket tool to paste my own graphics onto the bag but instead of it working the way it's done in this tutorial instead it seems to have pasted bits of each of the graphic on each of the polygons of the bag. So I get a kinde abstract crisp packet. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The bag is definitely a group and I definitely smoothed all the edges etc so I'm at a loss :/
