Box is the man and his stuff with SubD and cool tricks like this. Not only impress`s you but makes you realize the many possibilities SketchUp offers. Or mysteries is has left to be found.

That was really great, Aaron (and Box!)! These skill builders are fantastic and are such a benefit for us SketchUp users!

I tried making doors & windows using your previous videos, got a little bit success also but there were some problems, so It would be really helpful if we get a series on making complex dynamic components (i.e. Windows, Doors, Staircase, Boundary Walls, Railings etc) with varied options. These videos are really helpful, thanks a lot. Subscribed.

I hope sketchup will add more native tools like this weld tool. No more extensions in the future, just full native tools. I hope sketchup will consider this suggestion. Thank you.

Very cool. AND... reminds me to say that it's ridiculous that Sketchup does not have a native weld tool in the kit.

Just used this method to make twisted sticks of boiled candy and I have reduced the memory size by half of a candy made using twist and bend plugins. Many thanks.

Great video as always! Having scoured the internet there doesn’t appear to be much content around dynamic components and how to create them. I’ve been stuck on a programming problem for an animation sequence I’m attempting. Any/all walkthroughs on a bunch of examples of how to use different functions would be great content, I don’t know how many others have gone down this rabbit hole. But it’s deep, and I’m a bit lost.

I can use this technique to make a ring in pinion gear for deferential. If I also apply your technique for making a screw.

Hey, Great content. I love this video. I've been experimenting with this technique and am having a problem. I created the same kind of form as your video shows with the same techniques with the goal of creating a series of 3d shaped lines that I could then use follow me to wrap a shape around the line. However, when I do follow me on the line the shape twists as it follows the line. Instead of staying with a convex side facing always inward, it curves and ends up pointing downward. Could you see if you can reproduce this and explain why this is happening?

Could you please help me understand why this tube squeezed asymmetrically. Upper part squeezed while lower part remains almost unchanged, where is a boundary b/w "hard/light" squeezing? Can I predict it?
@AaronMakingStuff5 жыл бұрын
The bottom is "Anchored" by being connected to the circle. The deformation has to do with a bunch of geometric calculations related to keeping the curve connected while changing the angle of the first segment... I am not really smart enough to explain beyond that. I recommend you make a model and try it yourself!

Great video. I have one question. How does that copy function work when you say you're typing 23x? I don't seem to have that tool or option.
@SketchUp5 жыл бұрын
After using the Move to with the modifier key to make a single copy, simply type the number of copies you need, followed by the X key and you will generate an array!
@taylorplayer405 жыл бұрын
@@SketchUp Thanks. I didn't know what the modifier key meant so for others like me the modifier key is control or shift on your keyboard. Pressing it while using various tools changes their action. I cant believe I didn't know this.
