Hey, I was curious if you or anyone else has any ideas on how to get a component to fill an area. For example, the goal I am looking to achieve is to get a Paver pattern made up of 6 pavers to replicate or repeat itself inside a selected area. I have been using the Path copy. It does a decent job, but I still end up having to put them down in place group by group.

@@MrKen-wy5dk Thanks, Yea if I ever figure it out I'll come back and put a comment on here. I haven't ever commented on a question before so I am unaware of the chances of it being seen.

So the paver pattern needs to replicate and also auto-rotate to fit with adjacent patterns? Skatter might do this, but I'm not sure it will recognize how to do the rotation. If you just need it to fill an area, it will do that part. Great question, I bet Eric on our team might have some ideas, I'll have to look into it.

Hi Tyson, very useful information, thank you. I will certainly set up templates for 3D printing. At the end of all these videos, viewers are asked to let you know what else we would like to see in these skill builders. This request has nothing to do with templates, but is something that has bugged me for ages. I hope I have described this well enough. If not, I can send an example, if you can give me somewhere to send that example to. Okay, so let's say I have drawn a metal plate, with several different sizes and shapes of holes drilled through it. If for some reason (accidentally or deliberately) I delete a face, I need to draw at least part of an edge of the metal plate to get the plane back for the face. However, the holes no longer exist as holes, only as outlines. I assume this is because Sketchup needs to be told that each hole should break the plane. To do this, I need to draw part of the edge of EVERY hole, to instruct Sketchup that this particular outline breaks the plane of the face. Now, I am able to delete the face within the hole outline, and the hole is restored. As you can imagine, this is very tedious if there are numerous holes. Is there a smart way to do this please? I would love to see a demonstration.

Hey Mick, this is a great question, and I've run into this problem for sure. Try this, it may not work everytime, but it does work sometimes. So in your plate example, if you lose the top face and need to re-create all the holes, rather than drawing an edge to re-create the top face, copy the bottom face up to the top, and it should preserve the holes. You'll likely need to reverse that face, but it should work. Also, in my quick tests, you could re-create the top face, and still copy the bottom face up, and then it cuts the holes. Worth a try, and I'll add this to my list of tips to show in a future video. Thanks!

Dear @@SketchUp, BOOM, and there was my question answered. So obvious now that you say copy the bottom face to the top, but that idea never occurred to me. There is no substitute for experience, and quite clearly you have that in abundance. Thank you so much.
