I did some solo river crossings at places I did not know. Alone on a 690 Enduro-R... I 100% agree that it is not too wise. To put it mildly. Especially if you try to just follow Waze/Google maps/GPS. It took me to places that were not meant to be ridden in a 150+ kg bike. I also ended up in situations, where I was going down a steep/slippery place, then reached a fallen tree and took hours to get back up, sometimes pushing/pulling and just overheating and burning clutch. Luckily most of those happened on a 450 which is a different story. If you manage to drop a big bike (even a 690) off a narrow trail, then it is probably walking time if you are alone. Once it took me an hour in pouring rain to get out of a river where my battery gave up and couldn't kick-start the bike either (2008 450 camshaft issue) ... and rivers get crazy here in the rainy season. People die from flash-floods :( ... I kind of stopped riding motorbikes for now as I found myself in these situations repeatedly. ... I cannot go on a nice chill ride. I am thinking of getting a small electric (SurRon) as the big bike thing just keeps getting me into trouble.

Yes you have to stay within your limits. The electric bike thing is a hoot I have the Talaria (have videos on my channel) its a blast but honestly it doesn't matter what you (we) ride you can get your self in harry situations on anything!

This video was the exact reason you probably and i bought my 1090R, to just explore and marvel at natures beauty. Oh yeah that 1st spot at 5:30 would be nice if no people were around. I'm sure there are places around the world that just make you pause and go FAWK this is BEAUTIFUL. You were definitely in one of those places.

Haha. I rode from Beaverdale to my home in Penticton last year coming back from a Kootenay trip. We started at the Greys pass and rode the Trans Canada trail back to the Okanagan. I parted ways with my brother-in-law and started toward Penticton. I got lost because all the logging changed where the trail was. Google maps failed. I finally found the trail you took. My XR650L was way over loaded and I was laughing and telling myself "this is so stupid" as I was crossing those ditches. What a relief when I saw 201! That trail is awesome but you should definitely not ride alone haha.

Awesome stuff man. I got the touratech gps mount for my 1090, I like it up there you might like it. Love clear water, just love it. I have a Garmin InReach that my wife loves, she hardly worries since it works, I will text her when remote and it really comforts her and me. Also, I have the insurance for rescue, haven’t had to use it yet.

What was the reason for choosing the 1090 and were any other ADV bikes considered ie Africa Twin/Tenere T7/Triumph Tiger etc...? Great vid again ✊

Thank you! I'm actually a bit of a KTM fanboy so that swings me! I rode for them back in the year 2000! I actually found a really good deal on this 1090 so I scooped it up.. not a lot of other bikes in that category for a decent deal in my area. The KTMs seem to have the best power to weight ratio and the reliability is pretty good not as good as Japan bikes but still pretty good! The bikes you mention are all great bikes really liked the Triumph and actually looked at them but more money than a KTM!

Have you had any issues with the fuel pump on your 1090? Looking to get into one and just trying to see how widespread it is lol

When I got it this spring it was the first thing I changed to a Quantum just for peace of mind. There very reasonably priced and come in a kit!

What is your fuel economy and range you get with a tank of fuel? Nice ride thanks for sharing..

Thank you.. I'm not sure on range I haven't pushed it that far when I fill it up it says 450 K till empty or maybe 480K something like that. I believe its a little over 6 gallon tank so its huge!
