I, like many other in the comments, just recently started backcountry skiing at HV. I would be willing to bet an entire generation(maybe more than one at this point) has learned how to ski outside the resort at HV since it has closed. The chairlifts may be gone, but this place is still very much alive as a ski area. It provides a relatively safe place for people to learn and still draws quite the crowd on a good pow day! Hidden Valley Lives on!

I started skiing at HV in 1973, riding in Poudre R1 School Buses, at age 12 from Ft. Collins

As a young lad in CO, I skied HV as much as I could, driving up (or making my parents drive up) from Arvada. I had a crush on one of the ski patrol, a lass named Astrid, my dream was to become a sooper-dooper ski master, impress her with my skills, and join the HV ski patrol. Ahhh, youth.

I had the biggest smile on my face watching the entire documentary. I learned to ski at HV back in 1981 and it was so nice to see so many people that I knew talk about the impact this treasure had on so many of us through the years. Thank you so much!

I was a patroller at Eldora, and met a lady pro from HV named Marilee at the state pro patrol party. I was up at HV to judge a NSPS test. I ran into her again but she was dating a patroller there. So all of us were in the bar at the end of the day and HV had a giant jump built in front of the lodge . Being young I was telling the older guys I would take a sled off of that jump just as Marilee's boyfriend was walking by. He challenged me to do it and said he would start the lift. So I went out, grabbed a cascade toboggan and did a spread eagle off of the jump while all the NSPS guys were on the deck watching. Not to be outdone the boyfriend went up and took a sled off the jump while I was removing my equipment. Just then the Ski area manager came out and tore him a new one for being hard on the equipment. I went back into the bar for a couple more beers. She ended up coming to Eldora and working there for several years.
