Tracks are great for flat surfaces....but on terrain that is uneven, they get very tipsy because the center of gravity can change. On a wheeled skid loaded, you have much more forgiveness on uneven surfaces...I was dumping a load of dirt and was too close to the edge of a hole....bucket was maybe 3' in the air...and had it tip forward. I never had this issue with a wheeled skid steer.

This is where I’m stuck (no pun intended). I live in the Pacific Northwest and I’m trying to determine if I should go for a skid steer setup with tires so I have the option to apply OTT tracks for versatility. With the snow we have up here I’m not sure if tracks will cut it. What are your thoughts? Thx!

I live in Texas and we do not get much snow, I am not answering this as someone who is a snow expert. I would think it would depend on the depth of the snow. Shallow snow where the tires would spin until hitting solid ground ?? Tracks for deeper snow as not to sink in it. Not an expert on snow.

As long as it is a flat concrete surface they do very well.

There is one disadvantage in my opinion it would be putting more stress on the hydraulic pump and motors.
