Strom’s parents maintained a plantation type farm. They employed blacks to work on the farm. One black lady was a housekeeper and lived with her teenage daughter in separate quarters on the farm. During one of Strom Thurmans college breaks he managed to get the 16 year old black girl pregnant. Strom was about 19 years old. A daughter was born and she was known as Essie Mae Washington. When Strom was a Senator he privately supported her financially. She became a school teacher and actually retired. Strom never publicly acknowledged his daughter although she did see him from time to time. After Stroms death this fact became known. Stroms white family including his son who was Attorney General of South Carolina acknowledged her as DNA test proved old Strom was Essie’s Daddy.

So ‘Ol Storm was just like all politicians in Washington and just could not keep his hot dog in his pants where it belonged and then kept the information hid and forced his child to suffer cause he was embarrassed, yet these are the individuals we are supposed to trust to run our state & country and make laws that affect our everyday life!!!

That’s NO lie…. I lived for a few short years in Anniston, AL, while I was in pre-school, Kindergarten & 1st grade. While I don’t remember much of it, my father told me about the stories, and things that would happen all in a “typical” day (that usually revolved around racial issues). That was 73-ish. I went back and read the local paper archives, and sure enough there would be little write-ups on those stories. Never a dull moment in the south back then.

@11:22 "How is this not a movie?" Strom Thurman's involvement negates any possibility of that happening. The family would sue, is my guess, and they have not only DEEP pockets, but powerful connections as well.
@Ganiscol
@Ganiscol 7 ай бұрын
Nah. Can't sue for anything. Can't even stop somebody from writing or filming an unauthorised biography, you could only sue for libel or defamation after the fact and possibly lose on creative license. The real reason would be that the mainstream audience is not fond of these type of small-time feud stories. So, that rules out a studio making this. If a director or actor finds this interesting and has the resources and/or connections to make it happen, it would happen. Most likely on streaming, though.

Crazy to think how a mule kick started a deadly chain reaction. But you could argue that it was actually J. Wallace Logue's greed (asking Timmerman $40.00 instead of the original $20.00) that lead to a deadly escalation which resulted in the deaths of all those people.

I know the Adams family. A former slave family that was as owned by the Thurmans. They live in the area till this day, we talked about this story when I stayed with them for a week in the winter of 2000. They thought it was scandalous that Strom had sex with her in the way to her execution. Said, one of the guards who was from that area, raved about it when he came home for that next Christmas. Strom admitted it, early on, bragged about it even in certain company and later then denied. Wouldn't we all have sex with a girl, on her dying day? Especially if she looked the way she did in the time she did. She was a real doll in those days.

11:20 How this isn't a movie? It would have to be a Lifetime movie. Yeah, Hollywood has been out of ideas for 34 years and since then, the American movie watching public has been indoctrinated to watch movies with continuous car chases and explosions, not caring one little bit about plot. It's sad.
