I fully rebuilt a 1990 DR650S and have mod-ed it a lot like much of what you have done. I live at 10,500 ft elevation. I went with the TM-40 pumper carb. Huge Difference on acceleration. Also, the tm-40 allows for the double throttle cable, helps with instant throttle snap back. I am very impressed with the level of enduro riding you do. love to do much of that. but up here we don't have all year riding. we get over 400 inches of snow a year. Thanks for sharing "the war pig" as an example of what can be done with the dr.

Brother man your sic ! That some knowledge and skills you have . Thanks you saved me some money today . I was thinking buying a VStrom 800DE due to my size being 6ft and around 250ish . And the riding I want to do most people are not even doing 40 mph . I dont know nothing of the metric system . I have a a stock 1990 DR350s the suspension was all redone stock of course and the motor has only 2700 on it but the top end was bad low compression. So I just bought a replacement kit piston head and rings and clips and so forth . I believe they over filled the motor with oil , they didnt know how to check it correctly. They thought it was just low so they kept adding oil to it. My friend said they got it started after kicking it over for 40 minutes they said it ran ok brand new . Can I just do my springs as well on its little brother ? Being its already a brand new suspension

@SKIDSnSTUFF The DR is best in its class to date . Only the DRZ and the 400Xr . It has more power than the 300 that's is offered today . And I would have to say it has a better suspension compared to the CRF300 L . Plus, it has a 6speed . Besides gay computers on board, there are no major gains . Without making the motors to probmatic.....

K S The muffler i used is just one destined for a Morris minor it’s round about 8 inches long I run it backwards so it’s not annoyingly loud but it’ll run either way. I removed the stock muffler and pipe just unbolted it behind the frame. Welded a bit of tube to the muffler put a bend in it bolted to the stock pipe with a clamp. That’s it used the standard mounts so I can return it to stock anytime.

K S legitimate took me about an hr. My mates bike runs a yoshi. I think the the red back sounds actually better. No air box upgrades or carby upgrades on my bike. I do run avgas a lot of the time I have unlimited access to that. The bike is a 2015 I’ve owned it since new always ran avgas runs an almost white pipe. This is my 3rd DR in 25 years most reliable motorcycle I’ve ever owned.

Thanks! Some basic ideas. Ive got 51,000 miles on my 03 DR, nothing broke yet....I dont quite ride it like you do obviously, but its been in dirt and rocks alot............I tried the race tech re-valved shock thing, we re-valved it 3 times, I rode it and rode it....sorta worked then the shaft wore the chrome off, then the body was wrecked internally....................THEN I put an American made Cogent shock on and damn. Best thing I ever did to the bike by far.........So Nice. Right outta the box no adjustment needed and perfect. 35,000 miles I got banged around by the re-valved shock........Cogent is like an American version of an Ohlins, plated steel body, Ohlins spring, totally re-buildable easily.................Worth the money.
@SKIDSnSTUFF2 жыл бұрын
For sure a good rear shock is a game changer. I need to fix the revalve on this one it's kinda terrible but I'm sure it can be a lot better with a shim shuffle, the dude who valved it went too tight up top. Thanks for the suggestion.
@bradsanders69542 жыл бұрын
@@SKIDSnSTUFF Me and the race tech guy tried the shim shuffle 3 times, it turned out the stock shock is so simple and cheap? That trying to add rebound damping also added compression damping...which was already too stiff....its un-doable.....My bike would do a wallow when pushed hard and it was not good.........then the chrome came off the small shaft, the body has no hard anodizing and it went bad.....it over heated easily....at base level its junk..........Ive never had a shock be such a game changer as the Cogent. Not cheap, but wow does it ever work.

Ciao a tutti. Seguo con grande interesse. Chiedo un vostro aiuto. Serbatoio da 25 o 20 litri ? Ho paura il 25 litri renda la moto impacciata. Io vivo in Italia. Great
@SKIDSnSTUFF Жыл бұрын
la bici va esattamente allo stesso modo con entrambi i serbatoi di capacità. Se HAI BISOGNO del carburante allora la decisione è fatta per te. Ora uso un serbatoio da 35 litri.
