Between this Q7.8, the Salomon S force Bold, the nordica steadfast 85DC, and the Ross Experience 82ti which one will give the best option to learn how to carve on groom in snowy conditions ?

I had such a positive experience on the Steadfast 85 this year, it's tough to argue against it. That said, these are all great skis that are very capable carvers. The Rossignol is crisp, the Atomic is intuitive, and the Salomon is very sharp in its angles. The Steadfast makes very clean and round turns with a super-smooth attitude. The extra width opens up all-mountain skiing as well, as I really enjoyed the versatility as well.

Hi. I am beginner - intermediate and looking to get either q7 or q7.8. I am 5 10 and 165lb. I want to push myself a bit this coming season. Which one you recommend and what size should I choose. Thanks for answering.

If you're on groomers all the time and want something easy to turn, I'd go Q7. If you are planning on encountering softer or chunky snow or are just wanting something slightly wider for a different platform to stand on, then the 7.8 is a great option. I'd go with the 168 in the Q7

Specs question.. I have a pair of Q7 purchased in March 2023 (173 length). My Q7 look exactly the same as these Q7.8 and are 84.5mm, black, etc. You mention in this video that the Q7.8 is built with a wider 84.5 platform than the Q7, but yet my Q7 has that exact same 84.5 width. Is the Q7.8 just a rebrand of the Q7 from 2023? Meaning, did they simply add the ".8" for 2024?

They currently have a mildly confusing naming process. The .8's currently refer to the 84.5's while the non-.8's are 75 mm underfoot. The 9 or the 7 refers to the build, so the higher the number, the better the build. This is for 2023 and 2024 models.

Agree, odd indeed.. My 2023 Q7 are 84.5mm and look identical, black, to the 2024 Q7.8 in this video. When I purchased them in 2023, a Q7.8 version didn't exist. Looks like the 2023 Q7 and 2024 Q7.8 are the exact same ski except the new logo reads "Q7.8".

Thanks for the video! Im considering this ski because a colleague reccomended it to me. 80% of the time i ski on the piste, but the other 20% of the time i like to ski off piste when their is fresh untouched snow. My ability level is intermediate. Would this be a suitable ski for me?

I think that's pretty good! It's certainly more on-trail focused than off, so you will feel a bit of a pinch when it comes to the softer snow. For more all-mountain usage, check out the Atomic Maverick 86C.

I'm considering this ski because last year i tested Redster q7 and was impresed with short radius and carving capabilities. I ski on the piste most of time and looking for wider ski. My ability level is advance. Would this be a suitable ski for me or should i look for Q9.8. And what size will be the best for me? I'm 186 cm high and 104 kg.

The 9.8 just adds weight and the resulting stability while the 7.8 is more poppy and energetic. There's not a huge move from the 7 to the 7.8 other than width, so you will be feeling a lot of the same things, just in a wider-bodied format. The 9.8 is a different animal--much more powerful and stable, but you do have the stats to hold up to it. I'd go 173 if you go that route as it's a very strong ski and there's not a huge upside to upsizing here.

I can't imagine the Ti Stabilizer on the Q4 is either full width or full length. Companies are sometimes pretty vague about their language and we do our best to filter it through.

The tester give this ski an overall impression score by 4 on your website. Does it mean it’s not a good ski😂? I’m so confused whether to choose it or not. On the contrary, q9.8 got higher scores among testers. I’m at intermediate level. Q9.8 might be too heavy and too stiff for me to control.

Personally, I'm a conservative scorer, meaning that 5 out of 10 is average, so I wouldn't say 4 is bad. As an intermediate, I'd say the 7.8 is a better option overall. 9.8 is heavier and stiffer for sure.
